The music video for “Idol” by YOASOBI, which also serves as the opening theme for the 2023 TV anime Oshi no Ko, has surpassed 600 million views on YouTube.
Released on April 12, 2023, the song made history by topping the Billboard JAPAN Hot 100 for 21 consecutive weeks, setting a new all-time record. It has also accumulated over 900 million streams to date.
“Idol” further achieved groundbreaking milestones in J-POP history by topping several major global charts, including the US Billboard Global Excl. U.S., Apple Music’s “Top 100: Global,” and the YouTube Music Charts’ “Top 100 Songs Global.”
YOASOBI also performed a special international collaboration of “Idol” at the 74th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen on December 31, 2023. In May 2024, the song won three prestigious awards at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN: Top Global Hit from Japan, Best Anime Song, and Best Music Video.
