The TV anime Strongest New Saga will begin airing in July, with Takehito Koyasu cast as the ruthless demon Ganias and Yoko Hikasa as the powerful demoness Yuriga. The series is based on the fantasy novel by Masayuki Abe, originally serialized on “Shousetsuka ni Narou” and later published by Alphapolis, selling over 1 million copies including manga and digital editions.

The story follows Kyle (voiced by Yuuma Uchida), a magic swordsman who, after losing everything but defeating the Demon King, is sent four years into the past by the power of a crimson gem. Armed with memories from his previous life, Kyle vows to change fate and protect the peace that will otherwise be lost. Notable supporting characters include Selan (Hiro Shimono) and Liese (Fairouz Ai).

The opening theme, “Ensha,” is performed by alternative pop artist 4s4ki, and the ending theme, “her,” is sung by singer-songwriter Mahiru Koda. The first promotional video (PV) has also been released, offering a glimpse into Kyle’s dramatic journey and the looming battle with powerful demons.

The anime will air on ABC and TOKYO MX starting in July.

Time-Travel Fantasy with Dark Demons and a Hero’s Second Chance

“Strongest New Saga” sets itself apart from standard isekai or fantasy fare by combining time-travel mechanics with high emotional stakes. Unlike the typical “overpowered hero starts over” premise, Kyle’s motivation is rooted in trauma and love, not just glory or revenge. His journey to rewrite the past isn’t just about defeating demons—it’s about preserving fleeting peace, mending relationships, and correcting regret. With seasoned voice actors like Takehito Koyasu and Yoko Hikasa voicing the primary antagonists, viewers can expect complex, charismatic villains that elevate the narrative tension. The music choices—4s4ki’s edgy alt-pop and Mahiru Koda’s emotional ending—hint at a tone that’s both stylish and serious. This could be one of the darker, more emotionally charged fantasy series this season.”
