“The royal court magician who was confined to supporting magic because his allies were too weak is banished and aims to become the strongest” will be made into a TV anime in October, starring Shuuichirou Umeda

The fantasy novel “The Court Magician Who Only Played Support Magic Because His Allies Weak Was Banished and Aims to Become the Strongest” (published by Kodansha) has been adapted into a TV anime and is set to begin airing in October. Shuuichirou Umeda will play the role of the protagonist, Alec Yugret. The main staff, teaser PV, and the first teaser visual have been released.
The original novel by Alto has been serialized on “Let’s Become a Novelist” since 2020. Alec, a court magician who secretly supported the weak crown prince Regulus Galdana with support magic, is judged incompetent and one day suddenly banished and loses his job. YoRHa Eisenz, who spent his time at the magic academy with Alec, appears in front of him and proposes the reunion of the once legendary adventurer party “Lasting Period”. Five volumes of the book version have already been published. The comic version is also being serialized on Kodansha’s manga app “Magazine Pocket”.
Director Takahashi Ken and assistant director Hirata Masamune (Rare Trick) are the same team who worked on “Ragna Crimson.” The series will be written by Fudeyasu Kazuyuki (Shangri-La Frontier: A Crappy Game Hunter Challenges a Godly Game), character design and general animation director Sato Yoko (My Favorite is the Villainess), and animation will be handled by Gekkou (One Turn Kill Nee-san in Another World).
The teaser PV includes an action scene using Alex’s magic. At the end, Alex’s voice is heard, and members of “Lasting Period” such as YoRHa also make an appearance. The first teaser visual also shows Alex using magic.
