Manga Taisho 2023 Grand Prize Winner “Draw This and Die” to be made into a TV anime – A youthful story of manga and high school girls

It has been announced that the manga “Kore ga Sugoi Die” currently being serialized in “Gessan” (published by Shogakukan) will be adapted into a TV anime and will be broadcast on Nippon Television.
The original manga by Toyoda Minoru tells the story of Yasumi Ai, a first-year high school student living on Izu Ojima, an island in Tokyo, who forms a manga study club with his friends and struggles to find what he wants to draw. It depicts the joy and rigors of creating things in a straightforward manner, and won 6th place in the men’s edition of “This Manga is Amazing 2022”, the Grand Prize in the “Manga Taisho 2023”, and the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award.

The recently released teaser visual depicts the blue ocean of Izu Oshima, modeled after author Toyoda’s hometown Izu Oshima, and the back of the protagonist Ai, with Pokota, a character from the manga in the work, standing next to Ai.

It’s going to be made into an anime! ! ! ! When I was asked “What do you want us to pay attention to?” during our first meeting with the production side, I think the first thing I said was “I want you to think about the beauty of the island first.” As per that request, the picture of the island that they showed me in the check was so beautiful. I’m really looking forward to seeing the girls moving freely in this space. I’m looking forward to waiting with excitement along with everyone.
