Demon Slayer: Mugen Castle Arc Part 1 Hits ¥25.7B, New Visual Shows Shinobu vs. Douma

The fourth key visual for “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle Arc Chapter 1: Akaza Returns” has been unveiled. The visual depicts a clash between Shinobu Kocho, the “Insect Pillar” of the Demon Slayer Corps, and Douma, the “Upper Rank Two” demon.

The latest audience numbers and box office revenue were also announced on the film’s official website. According to the announcement posted at 11:30 AM on August 18, the film has attracted 18,272,941 viewers and grossed ¥25,782,656,600 in the 31 days since its release. It has now surpassed “Frozen” (¥25.5 billion) to become the fourth-highest grossing film of all time in Japan.

The original “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is a battle action manga written by Koyoharu Gotouge and serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha) from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it depicts the story of a young boy, Tanjiro Kamado (voiced by Natsuki Hanae), whose sister was turned into a demon, as he throws himself into the battle against demons led by Muzan Kibutsuji (Toshihiko Seki). The first season of the anime adaptation, “Tanjiro Kamado: Determination Arc,” aired on TV in 2019. By 2024, the “Infinity Train Arc,” “Red Light District Arc,” “Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Hashira Training Arc” had been produced. The “Infinity Castle Arc” will be adapted into a three-part theatrical anime film depicting the final battle that takes place in the demon’s base, “Infinity Castle.”
