■ Which corps members will participate in the Battle of Infinity Castle?

This article summarizes a vast amount of information about the Demon Slayer Corps, but if you’re looking for information specifically related to the “Infinity Castle Arc,” check out the character sections below! These 12 corps members who fell into the Infinity Castle at the end of the “Pillar Training Arc” are likely to participate in the battle!

Tanjiro Kamado, Inosuke Hashibira, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Genya Shinazugawa, Kanao Tsuyuri, Water Pillar/Giyu Tomioka, Insect Pillar: Shinobu Kocho, Mist Pillar/Muichiro Tokito, Snake Pillar/Obanai Iguro, Love Pillar: Mitsuri Kanroji, Wind Pillar/Muichiro Shinazugawa, Rock Pillar/Gyomei Himejima

■What is the Demon Slayer Corps? It’s an organization that has existed since ancient times, fighting against demons to protect people. It is not officially recognized by the government. Members who pass the final selection are approved for enlistment, and are assigned ranks.

■Demon Slayer Corps Related Words (1) Total Concentration Breathing: To become stronger, corps members must master the special breathing technique, “Total Concentration Breathing.” When the Total Concentration Breathing technique speeds up blood circulation and the heartbeat, it significantly raises body temperature, making one as strong as a demon while remaining human. Continuing to practice the Total Concentration Breathing technique around the clock is called “Constant Total Concentration.”

■ Demon Slayer Corps Related Words (2) Crow

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

Each corps member is assigned a crow called a “Kasugai Garasu” (crow) to relay messages from headquarters. Each crow has its own unique personality and character. During the Battle of Mugen Castle, they play an important role in reporting the situation. Zenitsu, however, is accompanied by a sparrow named “Chuntaro” instead of a crow.

▽The main voice actors playing the crows are Hayami Shou (Ubuyashiki Kagaya’s crow), Yamazaki Takumi (Tanjiro’s crow), Iwami Manaka (Chuntaro), Chiba Susumu (Rengoku Kyojuro’s crow), Kugimiya Rie (Tokito Muichiro’s crow), Nakao Ryusei (Shinobugawa Genya’s crow), Horie Yui (Kanroji Mitsuri’s crow), Takagi Wataru, and Hiyama Nobuyuki.

■Demon Slayer Corps-related words (3) Appearance of the birthmark

Tanjiro has a birthmark on his forehead.

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

During the Warring States period, the “Swordsmen of the Breath of Beginning” who nearly defeated Muzan Kibutsuji reportedly developed birthmarks resembling demon patterns. When one bears a birthmark, it resonates with those around them, and so far, Tanjiro, Mitsuri Kanroji, and Muichiro Tokito have been affected. During the Pillar training, the Pillars aim to manifest the birthmark, but it seems that some kind of problem occurs when the birthmark manifests. In the story, the Pillars are shown being told, “Those who manifest the birthmark, without exception…” (Details have not yet been revealed). *The “Tsuji” character in Kibutsuji’s name is officially spelled with a “shinnyo” (double cursive).

[The Ubuyashiki family commands the Demon Slayer Corps; Kagaya’s bombing plan, which sparked the Battle of Infinity Castle]

Kagaya Ubuyashiki

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

■ The Ubuyashiki Clan: The head of the Demon Slayer Corps for generations. Due to the fact that a demon (Muzan) was born into the clan, the clan became cursed, and their children were sickly and died quickly. Since they began marrying wives from a family of priests, their children are less likely to die, but they still don’t live longer than 30 years.

■ Kagaya Ubuyashiki (CV: Toshiyuki Morikawa): The 97th head of the clan. He has five children, and his only son, Kiriya, is the heir.

At the end of the “Hashira Training Arc,” Muzan arrives at the Ubuyashiki basement. Kagaya had anticipated this and attempted to destroy Muzan with explosives, along with himself, his wife, and their two children. In order to delay Muzan’s regeneration after the explosion, small caltrops were placed inside the explosives to increase their lethality.

Tamayo, a demon, assisted in this plan, and immediately after the explosion, she approached Muzan and had him absorb the “drug that turns demons back into humans” into his body, weakening him. Then, at Tamayo’s signal, Gyomei Himejima attacked Muzan, followed by the remaining Hashira and Tanjiro, but they were all dropped into the Infinity Castle.

■ Ubuyashiki Kiriya (CV: Aoi Yuki)

On the right is Teruya.

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

At the age of eight, he became the head of the Ubuyashiki family, replacing his father, Teruya, who was killed in an explosion. Along with his two younger sisters, he leads the battle at Mugen Castle.

[Main Corps Members: Protagonist Tanjiro and His Fellow Corps Members]

■ Tanjiro Kamado (CV: Natsuki Hanae)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge / Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

The protagonist. He joined the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his demon sister, Nezuko, back into a human and slay the demons who killed his family. His keen nose allows him to distinguish between various odors. *The “Ne” in Nezuko’s name is officially spelled “Ne + 爾.”

His sword is black. He was a master of the “Water Breathing” technique, but after the battle at Mount Natagumo, he primarily used “Hinokami Kagura.” While Hinokami Kagura suits his body better than Water Breathing, it is more powerful, making it difficult for him to perform multiple attacks at first. *For more information on Hinokami Kagura, see the section below titled “Explanation of Hinokami Kagura and Sun Breathing.”

■ Zenitsu Agatsuma (CV: Hiro Shimono)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

A user of the “Thunder Breathing” technique. While he can only use the “First Form: Thunder Breathing,” he has derivative techniques such as “Thunder Flash – Six-Part,” “Thunder Flash – Eight-Part,” and “Thunder Flash – Lightning Speed.”

Normally timid, when cornered, he suddenly falls asleep as if fainting, revealing his true abilities. He has keen hearing and can discern a person’s true character and thoughts through various sounds. However, because he believes only in those he wants to trust, he has often been deceived.

He was a talkative character with strong reactions, but his demeanor changed completely after receiving a letter during his Pillar training. “This is what I need to do. I now know what I have to do,” he said, and devoted himself to his training. At the end of the “Pillar Training Arc,” as he falls into the Infinity Castle, his expression seemed prepared for something.

Hashibira Inosuke (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge / Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

He uses the unique “Beast Breathing” technique. Raised by wild boars in the mountains, he is a wild child with a beast-like, combative nature. While working alongside Tanjiro and the others, he begins to develop new, warm emotions.

He wields two swords. He nicks the blades himself and fights with the sharp blades. He always wears the skin of the mountain lord (the boar), but his true face is that of a beautiful young boy.

■ Genya Shinazugawa (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

Introducing himself in episode 4, “Final Selection,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc.” In the “Swordsmith Village Arc,” he fought alongside Tanjiro and the others against Upper Rank Four, Hantengu (Zohakuten). He has low physical abilities and cannot use breathing techniques, but by eating demons, he can temporarily assume the constitution of a demon. He also uses gun-like weapons.

He is the younger brother of Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Pillar. Before joining the Demon Slayer Corps, he saw his brother Sanemi kill their mother, who had become a demon, and in his confusion, he shouted, “Why did you kill my mother?!” and “You’re a murderer!” He regrets this. *Details of the events before joining the Demon Slayer Corps are described in the entry for his brother Sanemi below.

He is also the apprentice of Gyomei Himejima, the Rock Pillar. Himejima initially said he wouldn’t take Genya on as a disciple because he lacked talent, but he eventually took him on after noticing his demon-eating.

■ Kanao Tsuyuri (CV: Reina Ueda)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

Introducing himself in episode 4, “Final Selection,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc.” He is the stepdaughter of Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Pillar. Sold by his parents to live in poverty, he was saved by the Kocho sisters. Due to his upbringing, he has a limited emotional range and is unable to make decisions independently. *Stepdaughter: A Corps member raised by a Pillar.

[Demon Slayer Corps “Pillar”]

The nine highest-ranking swordsmen in the Demon Slayer Corps. They support the Corps.

■ Kyojuro Rengoku (CV: Satoshi Hino)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

The Flame Pillar, who first appeared in episode 23, “The Pillar Meeting,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Resolve Arc.” He uses the “Breath of Flame” technique and has a caring personality.

He played a central role in the “Infinity Train Arc,” fighting alongside Tanjiro and the others in a deadly battle against Enmu, the Lower Rank One. He later lost his life in a battle with Akaza, the Upper Rank Three, but until his death he continued to encourage Tanjiro and the others, telling them to “burn your heart,” and encouraging them to “live with pride” and “you will now become the Pillars supporting the Demon Slayer Corps. I believe in you.” *The “Rengoku” in Rengoku’s name is officially written as “fire + east.”

■ Giyu Tomioka (CV: Takahiro Sakurai)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

Introducing himself in episode 1, “Cruelty,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc,” Giyu is a silent swordsman who guided Tanjiro to the Demon Slayer Corps. He is the Water Pillar who uses the “Water Breathing” technique, but since an incident during the final selection, he has felt that “I’m not the Water Pillar” and “I didn’t pass the Demon Slayer Corps’ final selection.”

During the Demon Slayer Corps’ final selection, Giyu befriended a boy named Sabito (voiced by Yuki Kaji), but Sabito was the only one to lose his life. During the selection, Giyu was attacked by a demon but was saved by Sabito, and by the time he realized it, the selection was over. Giyu had always questioned his place in the Demon Slayer Corps and his status as a Pillar, having only been saved without defeating a single demon. However, when Tanjiro asked him, “Aren’t you going to carry on what Sabito entrusted to you?”, he remembered an important exchange he had with Sabito.

Sabito (CV: Yuki Kaji)
(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

Sabito, who saved Giyuu, is one of Sakonji Urokodaki’s students and the same boy who trained Tanjiro at Mount Sagiri. Also, half of Giyuu’s haori is a memento from Sabito, and the other half is a memento from his sister, Tsutako, who was killed by a demon.

■ Tengen Uzui (CV: Katsuyuki Konishi)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

He is the Sound Pillar, appearing in episode 23, “The Pillar Meeting,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc.” He played a central role in the Entertainment District Arc battles, retiring from the Pillar ranks after that battle, but continued to instruct the Pillars in their training. In addition to Sound Breathing and ninjutsu, he also uses his own unique battle calculation formula, “Score.” He fights using the powerful and intelligent ninja beast “Muscular Rat” as his servant.

He has a flamboyant personality and calls himself the “God of Flamboyance and Festivals.” Without his flashy makeup and accessories, he is a very handsome man. Born into a ninja clan, he dislikes the clan’s rules and values. He is a loving husband with three wives: Suma (voiced by Nao Toyama), Makio (voiced by Shizuka Ishigami), and Hinatsuru (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki). All three wives are excellent female ninjas.

■ Shinobu Kocho (CV: Saori Hayami)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

Introducing himself in episode 15, “Mt. Natagumo,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Resolve Arc.” He’s the Insect Pillar who traveled to Mt. Natagumo with Tomioka. He’s the only swordsman among the Pillars who can’t decapitate demons, but he can slay them with a special poison made from wisteria flowers.

His beloved sister, Kanae, was brutally murdered by a demon. In the “Pillar Training Arc,” he tells his stepdaughter, Kanao Tsuyuri, how to kill the demon that killed Kanae (though the details are not revealed).

■ Muichiro Tokito (CV: Kengo Kawanishi)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

The Mist Pillar, who first appeared in episode 23, “The Pillar Meeting,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc.” He is a descendant of a Sun Breathing user. In the “Swordsmith Village Arc,” he engaged in a deadly battle with Upper Rank Five, Gyokko. He had lost his memories of the past, but regained them during the battle at the Swordsmith Village.

Before joining the Demon Slayer Corps, Muichiro lived with his parents and twin brother, Yuichiro. However, when he was 10 years old, his mother died of illness, and his father died after falling off a cliff while gathering medicinal herbs for his mother. After the two brothers were left living alone, Yuichiro was harsh to Muichiro, but he was attacked by a demon and suffered serious injuries that nearly killed him. He died repenting for his treatment of Muichiro.

Mitsuri Kanroji (voiced by Kana Hanazawa)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

The Love Pillar appeared in episode 23, “The Pillar Meeting,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc.” In the “Swordsmith Village Arc,” he fought alongside Tanjiro and his friends against Upper Rank Four, Hantengu (Zohakuten).

He attacks with his thin, soft, and uniquely shaped Nichirin sword, bending it like a rhythmic gymnastics ribbon. His muscle density is eight times that of an average person, and he has displayed extraordinary strength and appetite since childhood. He had an arranged marriage at age 17, but the engagement was broken off. He lied to his next suitor in order to impress them. He later cried when Ubuyashiki Kagaya told him, “Be proud of your strength.”

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

The Wind Pillar, who appeared in episode 23, “The Pillar Meeting,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc.” He is the older brother of Genya Shinazugawa, Tanjiro’s fellow member of the Demon Slayer Corps. Before joining the Demon Slayer Corps, the Shinazugawa family was hit by a demon-related incident.

His father, a good-for-nothing, was stabbed to death, and his mother worked from morning to night to protect her children. One night, a “wolf-like intruder” attacked the brothers. Saneya killed the intruder to protect his brothers, but it turned out to be their mother, who had become a demon. After this incident, Saneya told his younger brother, Genya, “Let’s protect our family together,” but after Genya joined the Demon Slayer Corps, he coldly told him, “You fool, you’re not my brother. You should quit the Demon Slayer Corps.”

Himejima Gyomei (voiced by Sugita Tomokazu)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

The blind Rock Pillar, who appeared in episode 23, “The Pillar Meeting,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc.” He is the oldest of the Pillars and is said to be the strongest member of the Demon Slayer Corps. Himejima realized his own strength after an incident that occurred before he joined the Demon Slayer Corps.

Before joining the Demon Slayer Corps, Himejima raised orphaned children at a temple. One night, a child who had not returned by sunset encountered a demon. In order to save Himejima, he promised to feed the eight children to the demon. After four children at the temple were killed by the demon, Himejima tried to protect the remaining four, but only the youngest, Sayo, listened, and the three children were brutally murdered. Himejima risked his life to protect Sayo, continuing to hit the demon’s head until dawn. However, when Sayo told those who rushed to his aid, “He’s a monster” and “He killed them all,” it was determined that Himejima had killed the children. He was subsequently imprisoned for murder, but was saved by Ubuyashiki and avoided execution.

[Former Pillar]

■ Kocho Kanae (CV: Ai Kayano)

Appears in Episode 24, “Functional Recovery Training.” Former Flower Pillar. Shinobu Kocho’s older sister. Sympathetic to demons, she was brutally murdered by them in the end, but continued to pity them until her own death.

■ Urokodaki Sakonji (CV: Houchu Otsuka)

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge / Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

He is a “mentor” for the Demon Slayer Corps’ members and the person who trained Tanjiro to become a member. *Mentor: A swordsman who trains corps members

■Jigoro Kuwajima (CV: Shigeru Chiba) – Appears in episode 17 of “Tanjiro Kamado: The Unwavering Determination Arc,” “Master One Thing.” He is the former Thunder Pillar (the name given to a Thunder Breathing master when he becomes a Pillar) and the master of Kaigaku and Zenitsu. No matter how many times Zenitsu ran away or complained, he patiently scolded him, telling him, “It’s okay to cry, it’s okay to run away. Just don’t give up.” Zenitsu calls him “Grandpa.”

■Shinjuro Rengoku (CV: Rikiya Koyama) – Former Flame Pillar. He is the father of Rengoku Kyojuro, the Flame Pillar, who appeared in the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train.” He is knowledgeable about the Sun Breathing technique and the Earring Swordsman.

[Related Corps Members]

■ Kaigaku (CV: Yoshimasa Hosoya) – Zenitsu’s senior apprentice, who appeared in episode 17, “Master One Thing,” of “Tanjiro Kamado: Determination Arc.” He dislikes Zenitsu for constantly crying during practice and frequently running away, and coldly tells him, “The time I spend training you is a waste!!” and “You’re an eyesore, get out of here!!”

■ Hinokami Kagura and Sun Breathing explained: Who is the “Earring Swordsman” who nearly decapitated Muzan?

What is the origin of the “Hinokami Kagura” that Tanjiro uses?

(C) Koyoharu Gotouge/Shueisha, Aniplex, ufotable

Hinokami Kagura, along with the earrings, has been passed down through the Kamado family as a dance dedicated to the god Hinokami. In a flashback scene at Mount Natagumo, Tanjiro’s father, Tanjuro, says, “Please make sure to pass on this Kagura and the earrings without interruption. It’s a promise.” However, it’s not clear who he promised this to.

As Tanjiro investigates what Hinokami Kagura is, Kyojuro Rengoku’s father, Shinjuro, utters the words “Breath of the Sun.” According to Shinjuro, the Breath of the Sun is the very first “Breath of the Beginning” and its most powerful technique. All breathing techniques are derived from the Breath of the Sun. Furthermore, users of the Breath of the Sun are born with a red birthmark on their forehead. Tanjiro also has a birthmark on his forehead, but it’s not something he was born with. However, Tanjiro’s father, Tanjuro, was born with a faint birthmark on his forehead. Also, in the “Swordsmith Village Arc,” it was revealed that Tokito Muichiro, the Mist Pillar, is the descendant of a user of the Sun Breathing technique.

Furthermore, the “Earring Swordsman” is related to Hinokami Kagura and the Sun Breathing technique, and since this swordsman appeared in Tanjiro’s dream (inherited memories) in the “Swordsmith Village Arc,” it is possible that he may have some connection to the Kamado family. In the same arc, through the “memories of Muzan” seen by the demon, it was revealed that the Earring Swordsman was a legendary swordsman who once cornered Muzan and nearly cut off his neck. *Inherited memories: Ancestral memories.
