A new project has been launched for the anime Date A Live, which celebrated its 12th anniversary this April. Additional details about the 12th anniversary project, originally announced in March, have also been revealed.

Date A Live is a romantic comedy action series based on the light novel by Koushi Tachibana. The story follows Shido Itsuka (voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki), a high school boy who must “date” powerful spirit girls—beings who bring disasters to humanity—in order to seal their powers. By making them fall in love with him, he aims to save both the world and the spirits themselves.

A new visual was released alongside the launch of the new project. It features a faintly glowing object resembling a “Spirit Crystal (Sefira)” held by one of the Spirits, with a mysterious figure barely visible in the background. Additionally, a brand-new illustration by Tsunako, the original character designer, has also been revealed. More details about the new project will be announced at a later date.

As part of the 12th anniversary project, a new visual featuring all 12 Spirit girls—including Yatogami Tohka and Itsuka Kotori—dressed in summer outfits has been released. This artwork will be used for a special prize figure and merchandise line covering all characters from the Date A Live series. An online lottery using the visual is also scheduled to run on Kujibikido from late July to early August.

In addition, a finale event has been announced for Date A Birthday, a campaign celebrating the birthdays of all 12 Spirits that began in June 2024. The event will take place at Volks Akihabara Hobby Heaven 2 in Tokyo from April 24 to May 11, and exclusive novelty items will be available.

A collaboration with Don Quijote has also been confirmed for June, with more details to be announced soon.

Congratulations on the announcement of the new Date A Live project—and thank you all! So, a new project has begun. We’ve already had five TV seasons, a movie, and even side stories adapted into anime, yet here comes something more. Whoosh… how exciting! What in the world is about to begin?

Let’s take a look at that intriguing teaser visual. Is that… a Spirit Crystal (Sefira)? And what’s that faint image in the background…? I’m curious too! More details will be revealed in time, so please stay tuned!

It’s been 12 years since the first anime aired, and 14 years since the original light novel began. That makes Date A Live quite a long-running series for a light novel. I’m truly grateful for all your continued support. Thanks to you, it looks like something new is on the way again. I hope you’ll keep following the journey of Shido, Tohka, and the others just a little longer.
