Full comments from the cast are below:

[Aoyama Yoshino (role of Kijitora)]

Kijitora thinks he’s the cutest cat in the world, and his honest and straightforward nature makes him seem very “cat-like.” We’re fascinated by the exquisite fusion of traditional folk tales and cats, and have fun recording each episode. We hope you enjoy!

[Shimono Hiro (role of Chatra)]

This time, my character, Chatra, doesn’t speak at all, but he plays a variety of roles, and all the cast members play various roles other than cats! Along with the cuteness that only cats can have, be sure to keep an eye out to see who is playing what role!

[Ueda Kana (as Shironeko)]

On the day I received my audition script, which was extremely edgy, consisting only of the sound of a cat meowing. I was so excited, meowing, wondering if it was good enough, that I was thrilled to hear I’d been chosen for the role of Shironeko. As someone who lives with three cats, this production is truly a treat… Let’s all enjoy fairy tales and cats together.

[Miyamoto Kanako (role of Calico Cat)]

It’s an anime with adorable cats ♡ People who have cats will understand! Even those who don’t have cats will find it soothing, just like having one! Thanks to the cat effect, the episodes were recorded in a very peaceful atmosphere. Each story is short, so be sure to watch it to relax before bed!

Bringing Folklore to Life Through Feline Eyes

The announcement of “Moving! Cat Folktales” marks a unique blend of Japanese folklore and feline charm. By casting well-known voice actors such as Yoshino Aoyama, Hiro Shimono, Kana Ueda, and Kanako Miyamoto as the cats, the production not only ensures strong performances but also taps into each actor’s distinct personality to shape memorable characters. The choice to release a promotional video ahead of the premiere gives audiences a first glimpse into the film’s visual style and tone, suggesting a warm, possibly whimsical atmosphere. In a market where animated animal stories often cater to children, this project seems to aim for a broader audience, possibly evoking nostalgia while introducing traditional tales to new generations.
