“The Magician Kunon Can See” main cast includes Saori Hayami and Maaya Uchida; teaser visual released

The main cast of “The Magician Kunon Can See,” a TV anime adaptation of the light novel that ranked first overall in the annual rankings of the novel submission site “Let’s Become a Novelist” (as of August 31, 2022), has been announced, revealing that Hayami Saori and Uchida Maaya will appear. A teaser visual was also unveiled.
The original light novel, which has sold over 900,000 copies in total (combined print and electronic figures as of March 2013), is a magical exploration fantasy in which Kunon Glion, a genius magician boy who is blind from birth, delves into magical tools and magic as a study, opening up the world towards his goal of “definitely creating eyes with magic.” The teaser visual is a monotone depiction of Kunon creating eyes with his specialty water magic.
The anime cast includes Hayami as the blind genius magician Kunon, and Uchida as Kunon’s maid, Iko Round. The two are scheduled to appear at AnimeJapan 2025’s “Pia Presents TV Anime ‘Fermat’s Cooking’ and ‘The Magician Kunon Can See’ Special Stage” to be held on March 23rd.

●Impressions when I read the original story and scriptI was excited to see how a shy boy suddenly finds the light and changes in a way that surprises those around him. I think the tempo of the conversations between the characters and the somewhat comical atmosphere can only be experienced in this work. At the beginning of the recording, the director and sound director told me to “have a comedy mindset,” so I’m approaching it with a light heart while keeping the parts that need tightening up.

●About the character Kunon He smiles nonchalantly and says outrageous things, then makes comments that get to the point, and sometimes shows a childlike expression… he has an incomprehensible charm that draws you in. I felt that he was the key to creating the unique atmosphere that flows through the work.
●I think that by adding a single sound and video to the fans, we can convey the dynamism and fun of the work even more. Even during the dubbing, we value the dialogue between the characters and record it with a good vibe every time. Please look forward to the broadcast!

● Thoughts on reading the original story and script When I read the original story, I was surprised because I never thought it would end up like this when it first started. It’s nice to see Kunon grow and develop, and it makes me want to follow him and wonder how far he’ll go!
