The official spin-off manga of the national anime “Crayon Shin-chan”, “Hiroshi Nohara Lunch Style”, has been decided to be made into a TV anime and will be broadcast on BS Asahi from October. It is scheduled to be broadcast every Friday from 11:00 pm. The key visual has been released.
The original work by Yoichi Tsukahara started in 2015 in “Monthly Manga Town” (published by Futabasha), and is currently a food review comedy manga serialized on “MangaCrayonShin-chan.com”. The total number of copies published (including electronic) is 800,000, and the total number of page views on “MangaCrayonShin-chan.com” has exceeded 4.4 million (2024). The story follows Shinnosuke’s father, Nohara Hiroshi, who works as an office worker for his family, and the way he carefully prepares his lunch, a moment of respite, despite the limited time and allowance he has. It is packed with stories that working people can relate to, such as worries about treating a junior colleague, a time-saving meal between sales calls, and complaints about one’s boss. The latest, 13th volume of the book, will be released on March 13th.
The role of Hiroshi will be played by Morikawa Toshiyuki, who also played in the main “Crayon Shin-chan” series. The director will be Nishiyama Tsukasa from “Human Bug University – Department of Immortality and Misfortune,” the series will be written by Mori Hayashi from “Cells at Work! BLACK,” and the character designs will be handled by Yamawaki Kotaro from “Human Bug University” (animation director, etc.). Animation will be produced by DLE, the studio behind “Human Bug University” and “Secret Society Eagle Talon.”
The key visual features a suit-clad Hiroshi standing in an office district lined with restaurants, along with the tagline “An hour of the dad that everyone knows that even his family doesn’t know about.”
Full comments from the cast, staff, and original author are below.

[Morikawa Tomoyuki (role of Nohara Hiroshi)] How did you feel when you heard that a work starring Nohara Hiroshi was going to be made into an anime? And how did you feel after actually doing the voice recording? Nohara Hiroshi is the main character because of his family, so I wondered what on earth happened to the Nohara family!? But when I learned the contents of the work, I was relieved. The work focuses on the unknown daily life of office worker Hiroshi, and only focuses on his lunch. A salesman, he is always alone during the day, although sometimes he is with a colleague. There are an incredible number of lines to say. This means that I burned a lot of calories, and the delicious-looking food on the voice-over screen made my stomach rumble so much that I had to do a lot of NGs. It was really tough.
●Messages from those looking forward to the filmHiroshi Nohara & Crayon Shin-chan fans across the country! Sorry to keep you waiting! Let’s watch Hiroshi’s lunch routine and think together about what to have for lunch tomorrow. It’s super interesting!

[Tsukasa Nishiyama (Director)] When I first heard about the project, I thought, “I’ll probably get hungry while I’m working.” And then when I actually started working… I got really hungry and it was hard. Script meetings, meetings, recording… someone’s stomach was always growling, including mine. Please enjoy the anime “Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch Style,” which is made with the sound of the stomachs of so many people! If you’re having trouble with lunch, please eat the same thing as Hiroshi. …Well, I’m working from home and I cook mostly at home with a set menu.

[Yoichi Tsukahara (Original Author)] When I first heard about the anime adaptation, I felt like I was in heaven. When I read the script they sent me, I felt even happier knowing that they understood me, and when I saw the finished video, I was moved by how wonderful it was. I was also able to attend the dubbing session, and when Toshiyuki Morikawa’s voice was added, I felt like I was surpassing the heavens and even the galaxy. While following the original, the content is even more entertaining. Whether you’ve read the original manga or not, please look forward to it!
