“Wataru-kun no XX ga Houkai-sunzen” to start airing in July, starring Umeda Shuuichirou, Yano Yumika, and Ikoma Yurie; teaser visual also released

It has been announced that “Wataru-kun no XX (Batsubatsu) ga Houkai-senzen”, which was reported to be adapted into an anime when the original manga is completed in 2023, will start airing on TOKYO MX, BS Nippon TV and other stations from July. The cast of Umeda Shuuichirou, Yano Yumika, and Ikoma Yurie, as well as the main staff, have been revealed, and a teaser visual has been released.
The original is a romantic comedy manga serialized in “Monthly Young Magazine” (published by Kodansha) and other magazines by Narumi Naru, known for “Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san”, from 2014 to 2023, and the series has sold over 1.2 million copies in total. After losing his parents, high school sophomore Wataru Naoto lives with his sister Suzushiro at his aunt’s house. When his childhood friend Tatehana Satsuki, whom he once had a crush on, transfers to the school, he is at the mercy of girls with their own problems.
Umeda will play Naoto, who always puts his younger sister first in life, Yano will play Satsuki, the “field vandal” who suddenly destroys the field that Naoto and he once cultivated together, and Ikoma will play Ishihara Murasaki, known as the most beautiful girl in the school.

The main staff is made up of the same people who are currently working on “Übel Blatt”. Takashi Naoya is the director and scriptwriter, Matsuo Asami is the assistant director, Tatsuya Takahashi is the series composer, and Staple Entertainment is in charge of animation production. Character design is by Sachiko Yasuda of “My Happy Marriage”.
The teaser visual is an ominous illustration of Satsuki standing with a smile and holding a hoe.

At the NBC Universal Entertainment Japan booth at “AnimeJapan2025” to be held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 22nd and 23rd, there will be a photo spot exhibition and greetings and logo sticker distribution by Satsuki and Murasaki cosplayers (Tsunko, Suzura). At 3:00 pm on the 23rd, there will also be a stage event with Umeda, Yano, and Ikoma. The stage will be streamed on ABEMA’s “Anime SPECIAL Channel” and YouTube’s “NBCUniversal Anime/Music”.
