The TV anime Isekai Munchkin – The Strongest and Fastest Dungeon Conquest with HP 1 is set to premiere this October. The main cast includes Nozomi Urawa as the protagonist Yukito Kirihara, alongside Kana Yuki, Yui Ishikawa, and Kaori Maeda as heroines. The first promotional video and key visual have also been unveiled.
Based on a fantasy TRPG-inspired story by Yu Shimizu and manga by Ryo Aogiri, known for The Demonic Sword Master of the Holy Sword Academy, the series is serialized on Kodansha’s Wednesday Sirius. The plot follows Yukito, an ordinary high school student who dies unjustly after being attacked by a monster during a TRPG session with his beloved younger sister Sana. Reincarnated into the world of “Everworld” by the goddess Nephilia, Yukito steals the “World Master’s Guide” after discovering Sana’s name inside and is cursed with having just 1 HP permanently. Using his cunning like a true TRPG “Munchkin”, he bends the rules to survive and search for his sister in this perilous new world.

Yukito, voiced by Nozomi Urawa, is a clever and tactical wizard who tries to suppress his innate kindness in order to become cold and ruthless. Kana Yuuki plays Charlotte R. Brownia, the kind-hearted and noble third daughter of a duke’s family, who serves as a human paladin but is emotionally vulnerable and defenseless. Yui Ishikawa voices Rumiria Sherwood, an elf ranger on a quest to rescue her sister who has been imprisoned in an evil temple. Kaori Maeda plays Riverna Dark, a dwarf cleric who, despite being a princess of the underdeep, became obsessed with an evil god and abandoned her kingdom to follow her twisted faith.

The first promotional video begins with live-action footage of people playing the legendary tabletop RPG Dungeons & Dragons. It transitions into animation, showing Yukito defeating countless goblins in a sneaky and cowardly manner, ultimately vowing to survive in the other world as a true “Munchkin.” He is soon joined by Charlotte, Rumiria, and Riverna, who become his companions.
The key visual features Yukito alongside the three heroines with the tagline: “You can’t survive in this world unless you’re a munchkin.”
The TV anime is helmed by general director Mamoru Yokota, known for producing Kanon and developing bishoujo games. Kei Yumizu (Zumomo and Nupepe) and Naoya Fukushi (Kaito Ansa) serve as directors, with series composition by Hiroshi Hosokawa (Otsuchi Cho Kagura Daihammer). Character designs are handled by Yokota and Yui Kato. Animation production is being handled by Durandal, a rising anime studio based in Gunma Prefecture.

[Nozomi Urawa (voice of Yukito Kirihara)]

My name is Nozomi Urawa, and I play the role of Yukito Kirihara. Yukito is incredibly smart and takes on his enemies with only 1 HP, using every strategy he can think of. His reckless actions are both thrilling and hilarious. I hope you’ll enjoy watching how he manipulates those around him!
Although the story is based on a tabletop role-playing game, I believe it’s been crafted in a way that even newcomers to the genre can fully enjoy. Please look forward to it!
[Yuki Kana (role of Charlotte R. Brownia)]

I’m Kana Yuki, the voice of Charlotte. A fantasy world of swords and magic, based on a tabletop role-playing game… isn’t that just the best?! Charlotte is a serious and honest girl, but she’s also very easy to convince (laughs). Her interactions with Yukito are, of course, entertaining, but I personally hope you’ll also enjoy her moments with her beloved horse, Rosinante.
Whether you’re a TRPG fan or completely new to it, there’s plenty to enjoy. I’ll be waiting for you in Everworld!
[Ishikawa Yui (Rumiria Sherwood)]

“Munchkin”… Have you ever heard that word before? As we continue recording, I’m starting to feel just how deep TRPGs are, and how fun this story is with all those elements woven in.
The character I play, Rumiria, usually comes across as quiet and emotionally reserved. But deep down, she has a strong will and is willing to do whatever it takes to save her sister. I hope to portray her as both cute and cool, depending on the moment!
[Maeda Kaori (Riverna Dark)]

I’m Kaori Maeda, and I play Riverna Dark! I think it’s amazing how Yukito always comes up with clever strategies, even with just 1 HP. Riverna is a very expressive character—she carries herself with dignity as a dark priest, but also has a strong and adorable charm. The party dynamics are also fantastic, so please enjoy how everyone evolves and fights under Yukito’s schemes!

With the support of Shimizu-sensei and Aogiri-sensei, we’re tackling various creative challenges in this adaptation. The original story is filled with thrilling strategies, intense battles, justice and evil, the inner conflicts of reincarnated characters, and captivating personalities. We’re doing our best to deliver all of these elements within a limited runtime—while also making it fun! One of the main highlights is the dynamic presentation that only animation can offer. Please enjoy!
[Director Naoya Fukushi]
When a manga gets an anime adaptation, some fans worry that “it’s made by someone who doesn’t love the original.” But I promise you, that won’t be the case here. I’m a fan of the manga myself, and I’m treating the world created by Shimizu-sensei and Aogiri-sensei with great care. While there will be original elements, that’s also where our team’s creativity shines. We’re putting our hearts into this, so please look forward to the broadcast and streaming!

“HP 1 but Overpowered: Isekai Munchkin Pushes TRPG Strategy to the Limit”
Isekai Munchkin – The Strongest and Fastest Dungeon Conquest with HP 1 is not just another isekai anime—it’s a rare homage to the core mechanics and spirit of tabletop role-playing games (TRPGs). The series embraces the concept of the “Munchkin,” a player who exploits loopholes in game rules to survive and thrive. What sets this adaptation apart is its full commitment to strategy, meta-commentary, and the absurdity of balancing power with weakness (literally having only 1 HP).
The addition of live-action scenes showing people playing Dungeons & Dragons reinforces its deep roots in TRPG culture. Meanwhile, the dynamic party of characters—each with unique motivations and flaws—feels like an actual TRPG group created by real players, not just written characters.
With directors like Mamoru Yokota and passionate staff who are also fans of the original manga, the anime promises not just entertainment but a reflective, tongue-in-cheek tribute to game logic, friendship, and survival under impossible odds. The inclusion of a TRPG-focused column by Masataka Yanagida shows that this project genuinely wants to invite viewers into the world of role-playing, whether they’re seasoned players or complete newcomers.
