The original is a Japanese-style Western manga serialized by Noda Satoru in Weekly Young Jump (published by Shueisha) from 2014 to 2022. It won the Manga Taisho Award in 2016 and the Manga Taisho Award at the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and the series has sold over 29 million copies in total. Set mainly in Hokkaido just after the end of the Russo-Japanese War, former soldier Sugimoto Saichi (CV: Kobayashi Chikahiro) and his party engage in a battle over buried Ainu treasure with the 7th Division of the Imperial Japanese Army led by Lieutenant Tsurumi (Otsuka Yoshitada) and the surviving former vice-commander of the Shinsengumi, Hijikata Toshizou (Nakada Joji). The TV anime was broadcast in four seasons from 2018 to 2023.

In the final chapter, Sugimoto Saichi and Asirpa (voiced by Shiraishi Haruka), who have returned from Karafuto, resume their journey to find the gold with Shiraishi Yoshitake (Ito Kentaro). Sugimoto and his friends head to Sapporo, where the 7th Division and Hijikata are facing off over an escaped prisoner who committed a series of prostitute murders. They join forces with Hijikata to prevent the gold from falling into the hands of the 7th Division. Meanwhile, Sugimoto and his friends get information that the next murder scene is the Sapporo Beer Factory, and they put into action an ambush operation.

The Sapporo Beer Factory Arc Comes to Theaters Before the Epic Conclusion
The long-awaited climax of Golden Kamuy is finally on the horizon. Before the final chapter airs on TV in January 2026, fans will be treated to a two-part theatrical release of the “Sapporo Beer Factory Arc” this October. This strategy not only builds anticipation but also highlights the growing trend of anime series using cinematic storytelling to enhance emotional impact. Given Golden Kamuy’s historical and dramatic depth, this prelude arc will likely serve as a powerful narrative bridge into the finale. Fans can expect a thrilling and visually rich transition from the big screen to the small.
