In the latest box office rankings (compiled over three days from April 25 to 27 by Kogyo Tsushinsha), Detective Conan: Afterimage of the One-Eyed attracted 1.136 million moviegoers and earned 1.669 billion yen over the three-day weekend, maintaining the No. 1 spot for the second consecutive week. The film’s cumulative total has already surpassed 4.31 million admissions and 6.3 billion yen in revenue.

In second place is Minecraft: The Movie, a Hollywood live-action adaptation of the popular Scandinavian video game that has sold over 300 million copies worldwide. The movie opened with 435,000 admissions and grossed 594 million yen over its first three days. Directed by Jared Hess, it stars Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, and others.
Debuting in third place is #IWillTellYouTheTruth, a film adaptation of Shinichiro Yuki’s mystery novel. Starring Motoki Omori and Fuma Kikuchi, the film drew 358,000 viewers and earned 487 million yen over the opening weekend. It is directed by Keisuke Toyoshima and also features Ayami Nakajo, Amane Okayama, and Riko Fukumoto.
In fourth place is Hanamanma, based on Minato Akegawa’s Naoki Prize-winning novel. Ryohei Suzuki and Kasumi Arimura star together for the first time, attracting 85,000 viewers and earning 114 million yen during the first three days. The film is directed by Tetsu Maeda and co-stars Suzuka Hiroshi, First Summer Uika, and Tamae Ando.
Ranking fifth is Paripi Koumei THE MOVIE, adapted from the popular TV drama featuring the reincarnation of Zhuge Kongming into the modern era, played by Osamu Mukai. Directed by Shuhei Shibue, the film reunites original cast members such as Moka Kamishiraishi and Mirai Moriyama, with new additions Fuju Kamio and Utaha joining the lineup.
Debuting in eighth place is the escape thriller The House of Heretics, where Hugh Grant portrays a mysterious man manipulating a visiting preacher with his extraordinary intellect. Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, it co-stars Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East.
In tenth place is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba TV Series Special Edition: Natagumo Mountain Arc, continuing its weekly screening event.
Among existing titles, Papal Election holds ninth place, remaining in the top 10 for six straight weeks. Despite a drop in rank, the film improved on last weekend’s performance, reaching a cumulative total of 360,000 admissions and grossing over 500 million yen. With the recent passing of Pope Francis and the upcoming conclave in early May, public interest in the film is expected to rise.
