The first installment of the movie adaptation of the popular anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Castle Arc, will be released on July 18. A countdown project is currently underway on the official website and X (formerly Twitter), with commemorative visuals featuring the Pillars being unveiled.

On X, new visuals from the Mugen Castle Arc are being displayed in cinemas with the message “86 days left until release.” The Pillars, including Tomioka and Kocho, can be seen with serious expressions. Fans have reacted with excitement, leaving comments such as, “The lineup of posters looks amazing,” “The poster feels so heartwarming! Tanjiro and the Pillars are in the background too♪ I can’t wait to see them,” and “Only 86 days left! I’m so excited!”

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is based on the manga of the same name, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. It is a hugely popular series with over 150 million copies sold. Set in the Taisho era, a time when man-eating demons roamed the land, the story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a boy who joins the Demon Slayer Corps after his family is slaughtered by demons, in hopes of turning his sister Nezuko, who has been transformed into a demon, back into a human.

The TV anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Tanjiro Kamado: Unwavering Resolve Arc aired from April to September 2019, followed by the film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, which continued directly from the anime’s final episode and was released in October 2020. The TV anime Entertainment District Arc aired in December 2021, followed by the Swordsmith Village Arc in April 2023, and the Pillar Training Arc from May to June 2024. It has been announced that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle Arc, which continues the story from the Pillar Training Arc, will be produced as a trilogy, picking up right after the events of the Pillar Training Arc.
