“Mononoke the Movie: Chapter 2 – Fire Rat” continues the mysterious tale of the Medicine Seller as he faces supernatural phenomena rooted in human emotions. Recently, new facial expressions and scene stills featuring the main characters—Medicine Seller, Fuki Tokita, and Botan Otomo—were revealed, with character settings illustrated by Yuichi Takahashi, the film’s character designer and chief animation director.
Originating from the “Bakeneko” arc of the 2006 anime “Ayakashi,” the Mononoke series became a TV anime in 2007 and is now unfolding as a film trilogy. The final chapter, “Chapter 3 – Snake God,” is set for release in spring 2014.
