It has been decided that Hatanaka Tasuku and Koichi Makoto will appear in the TV anime “Bouquet for an Ugly Girl.” In addition, the official PV and theme song information were also announced, and it was revealed that the ending theme song “Souvenir” will be performed by rock band “GLASGOW.”
The original is a school love comedy by Sakuraku Roku that was serialized in “Young Ace” (KADOKAWA) from 2016 to 2022. Tabata Hana (CV: Hayami Saori), a high school girl who calls herself ugly and lonely and always spends her time in the corner of the classroom, is seen in an “embarrassing state” by Ueno Yosuke (Tsuchiya Shinba), the handsome guy at the top of the school caste system, in the classroom early in the morning, and she begins to interact with him and her classmates.

Hatanaka plays Shinbashi Tsutomu, a high school boy who is a classmate of Hana and Yosuke and holds a central position in the class but is still wary of what others think due to a bitter experience he had in middle school, while Koichi plays Ueno Keisuke, Yosuke’s younger brother, who is an elementary school student but has the judgment skills to rival an adult. The PV begins with a scene in which Yosuke witnesses Hana acting like a heroine in the classroom early in the morning, and goes on to show the opening theme song “BLOOM (feat. Ayumu Imazu)” by “TWS,” which is being performed for the first time, as well as showing the two of them growing closer as they interact at school, after school, and in their private lives.

[Tasuku Hatanaka (role of Tsutomu Shinbashi)]

Q1. Please tell us your impression of this work. To be honest, I can really understand Tabata’s feelings, so I read the original work while empathizing with him. In the midst of all that, I love you. It made me realize that “I love you” can be such a warm feeling, so I really like this work.
Q2. Please tell us your enthusiasm for playing the character. Shinbashi, although not Tabata, is also a character I can really empathize with, and it’s really fun to play him! He’s bold, but he also has a sensitive side, so I hope I can face this role!! Please support Shinbashi as well!!!
[Koichi Makoto (role of Ueno Keisuke)]

Q1. Please tell us your impressions of this work. If you want to feel warm and fuzzy, this is a must-see! When I read the original work and when I was doing the voice recording, I laughed at the contrast between Tabata-san, who is negative and withdrawn, but is raging inside, and I was healed by the natural and cheerful Ueno-kun every episode. The love between these two people…I’m sure everyone will want to support them with all their might. And the quirky and warm characters who support them. You’ll want to jump into this world and spend your youth with them.
Q2. Please tell us your enthusiasm for playing the character. Keisuke-kun, who I will be playing, is Ueno-kun’s younger brother and has a personality that is the complete opposite of his older brother. He is quite cool and mature, and speaks to the point. But he… is actually in unrequited love with a certain person. The expressions of a boy in love that he sometimes shows, his conflicts, his childishness at this age, his frustration… Because he is a low-key character, I was able to carefully play the changes that occur when his heart is moved. Please look forward to Keisuke-kun’s performance!
[GLASGOW (Ending Theme Artist)]

Q: Please tell us your enthusiasm for performing the ending theme for the TV anime “A Bouquet for an Ugly Girl” and your comments about the song. Congratulations on the anime adaptation. I read all the volumes of the original manga and was moved by how pure it is. Hana-chan is so brave… We wrote the song “Souvenir” because we wanted to be a part of such a wonderful work. We hope that “Souvenir” will be a song that gives encouragement to Hana-chan, Ueno-kun, and all of you who love this work. We are very honored to have been in charge of the ending. We hope you enjoy both the anime and the song.
