Weekend Anime Movie Ranking: Doraemon Stays Strong at #1, Hypnosis Mic Surpasses ¥1.2 Billion, Yamato Forever Debuts at #6

Japan Weekend Box Office (April 11–13): Doraemon Leads for 6th Week, Hypnosis Mic Hits ¥1.2B, Yamato Forever Debuts at #6
The domestic movie rankings for April 11–13 (based on nationwide weekend box office data from Kogyo Tsushinsha) have been released.
“Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Picture World Story” continued its dominance at the top for the sixth consecutive weekend. In its 6th week, the film drew 142,000 moviegoers and earned ¥181 million over the three-day weekend. The total has now surpassed 3.4 million admissions and box office revenue of over ¥4 billion.
Coming in at #2 is “Amateur,” an action-suspense film starring Rami Malek, which made its domestic debut.
“Wicked” followed at #3, while “Unrequited Love” ranked 4th.
Rising one spot to #5 in its 8th week is “Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle.” The film has now attracted over 510,000 viewers and has earned more than ¥1.2 billion. To celebrate the 8th week, a special clear card bonus featuring Kazui’s original illustrations (three versions: Matenro, Dotsuitare Honpo, and Bad Ass Temple) was distributed randomly to theatergoers.
The latest installment in the Yamato remake series, “Yamato Forever REBEL3199 Chapter 3: Gunjo no Asteroid,” opened in 6th place. This is the third chapter (out of seven total, 26 episodes) that reimagines the 1980 film Be Forever Yamato with a modern interpretation. As a first-week bonus, an exclusive illustration board featuring Domon Ryusuke and Ageha Takeru was handed out. Weekly bonuses will be available through week 4, with details for upcoming weeks to be announced soon.
“Pope Election” climbed to #7 from last week’s #10, achieving its best performance yet in its 4th week.
“Snow White” took 8th, “First Kiss” held steady at 9th, and new entry “Bridget Jones’s Baby” debuted at #10.
