“July Sunday Anime Theater Lineup Revealed”

The following works will be broadcast in July on “Sunday Anime Theater,” which airs every Sunday from 7 p.m. on BS12 TwellV (no broadcast on July 6).

July 13: “Mashhin Hero Wataru: Ryuujinmaru of the Seven Souls: Reunion” (2022/directed by Hiroshi Kamishina)

July 20: “Heavy Metal L-Gaim I: Pentagon Window,” “Heavy Metal L-Gaim II: Farewell My Lovely,” “Heavy Metal L-Gaim III: Full Metal Soldier” (1986-87/general director Yoshiyuki Tomino)

July 27: “Lupin the Third vs. Cat’s Eye” (2023/directed by Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita)

“Mashhin Hero Wataru: Ryuujinmaru of the Seven Souls: Reunion” is a special edited version of “Mashhin Hero Wataru: Ryuujinmaru of the Seven Souls,” which was distributed in 2020 as a total of nine episodes, with new cuts added. Wataru sets out on another adventure with Torao and Himiko to restore his partner, the demon (machine) Ryujinmaru, whose soul has been split into seven parts by a new enemy, Dobazuda, to its original form.

The “Heavy Metal L-Gaim” series is a robot anime directed by Tomino Yoshiyuki. Set in a star system called Pentagona World, Daba Mylord, a young man of royal blood from a fallen country, drives the heavy metal (giant robot) L-Gaim left by his adoptive father and fights against the oppression of the dictator Ordona Poseidal. Three OVAs that are compilations of the TV series (1984-85) will be broadcast (without broadcast of other works such as “Lady Gabray”).

“Lupin III vs Cat’s Eye” is a collaboration work that was released in 2011 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the animation of “Lupin III” and the 40th anniversary of the original “Cat’s Eye”. Set in Tokyo in the 1980s, when “Cat’s Eye” was serialized, Cat’s Eye and Lupin III’s gang engage in a thieving showdown over three paintings left behind by Heinz, the father of Cat’s Eye, a trio of thieving sisters.
