The project “Ghost in the Shell: MESSED MESH AMBITIONS (M.M.A.)”, serialized on the official Ghost in the Shell global website, is being released as a book on April 11. On the same day, the official original art collection from The World of Shirow Masamune – Ghost in the Shell and the Path of Creation, the first exhibition showcasing original artwork by Shirow Masamune, the creator of Ghost in the Shell, will also be published.

“Shirow Masamune Artworks in the Shell”

The original artwork exhibition “The World of Shirow Masamune – Ghost in the Shell and the Trajectory of Creation” will be held from April 12 to August 17 at the Setagaya Literary Museum in Tokyo. To commemorate the event, an official art book titled “Shirow Masamune Artworks in the Shell” will be released on April 11.

The 304-page collection features over 260 full-color illustrations specially prepared for the exhibition. It spans more than 40 years of Shirow Masamune’s artistic career, including highlights from his early work Black Magic, breakout hit Appleseed, signature series Ghost in the Shell, Dominion, ORION, as well as various illustrations for games and novels.

Notably, the book includes large fold-out illustrations from Soji Shimada’s novel Classical Fantasy Within, presented as three- to four-page gatefolds. It also showcases additional artworks that won’t be displayed at the exhibition. The cover features a brand-new illustration by Shirow Masamune, and the book comes housed in a special box adorned with the cover art.
