This series is a re-animation of the manga serialized by Watsuki Nobuhiro in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (published by Shueisha) from 1994 to 1999. It depicts the story of Himura Kenshin (CV: Saito Soma), a patriot of the Meiji Restoration who was feared as “Battousai the Assassin” during the late Edo period, who vows not to kill and becomes a wanderer (Rurouni) during the Meiji period, fighting to save powerless people oppressed by unreasonable power. The first season, “Prologue Tokyo,” was broadcast in 2011, and the second season, “Kyoto Disturbance,” aired its final episode on March 20.
This information was announced at “AnimeJapan 2025,” which is being held at Tokyo Big Sight.
