This is the first completely new 2D movie in the Lupin III series in about 30 years since Lupin III: Dead or Alive, released in 1996. The Lupin gang, who are aiming for treasure hidden on a mysterious island that is not on the map, are waiting for an unknown entity called the “Immortal Bloodline,” and the story that can be said to be the origin of the series that connects to all “Lupin III” is revealed. The prequel “LUPIN THE IIIRD Zenigata and the Two Lupins” will be distributed on June 20th. Both the main story and the prequel will be directed by Koike Takeshi, who also worked on “LUPIN THE IIIRD Jigen Daisuke’s Gravestone,” “LUPIN THE IIIRD Goemon Ishikawa’s Blood Spray,” and “LUPIN THE IIIRD Fujiko Mine’s Lie.”

In the first half of the character introduction video, Lupin III (CV: Kanichi Kurita) mentions familiar characters such as Daisuke Jigen (Akio Otsuka) and Fujiko Mine (Miyuki Sawashiro) in a monologue reminiscent of the opening of the old TV series. In the second half, Lupin and his friends are trapped on a dangerous island filled with poisonous gas that will kill you if you inhale it for 24 hours, and where “garbage people” who were once used as weapons and discarded roam. The video depicts how Lupin and his friends, who are trapped on a dangerous island filled with poisonous gas that will kill you if you inhale it for 24 hours, and where “garbage people” who were once used as weapons and discarded roam, confront the threat of Muom (Ainosuke Kataoka), the ruler of the island who preaches “immortality,” and get closer to the hidden truth, while the original theme song “The IIIRD Eye” written by “B’z” plays.

Lupin’s Monologue Highlights the Bloodline Mystery; Exclusive Art Book as Theater Bonus

The newly released character introduction video for LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: The Immortal Bloodline offers a deeper look into the psyche of Lupin himself, voiced through an introspective monologue. Unlike previous entries, this installment seems to emphasize bloodline and legacy as central themes, suggesting a more personal and emotional journey for the infamous thief.

The inclusion of a bonus collection of original drawings as an admission gift further reinforces the film’s artistic intent and dedication to long-time fans. It also hints that the animation may hold stylistic importance—possibly a tribute to the aesthetic of older Lupin titles, while pushing boundaries with modern storytelling.

This release signals not just another Lupin adventure, but a narrative exploring who Lupin is beyond his heists: a legacy-bearer, a man of mystery, and perhaps, someone confronting his own past.
