The series is based on the manga Gintama by Hideaki Sorachi, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (published by Shueisha). It is a beloved work of entertainment, packed with gags, thrilling action, and heartfelt moments, and has been adapted into TV anime, theatrical films, and even a live-action movie. In October, the spin-off novel Class 3-Z’s Ginpachi-Sensei (original story by Hideaki Sorachi, written by Tomohito Osaki) is also set to be adapted into an anime.

Nearly 20 years after its debut in 2003, the Gintama 20th Anniversary Project is rolling out large-scale initiatives to excite fans across Japan. As part of this celebration, Gintama: The Final Chapter – Be Forever Yorozuya (originally released on July 6, 2013) will be screened in 4DX in summer 2025, while Gintama THE FINAL (released on January 8, 2021), the highest-grossing film of the franchise, will be screened in autumn 2025.

The latest trailer is narrated by voice actor Fumihiko Tachiki, well-known among Gintama fans for his role as Taizo Hasegawa (also known as “Madao”). This completely new recording showcases Tachiki’s signature narration style, familiar from previous anime, live-action, and other Gintama trailers.
