“Recommendations for a Gentle Aristocratic Vacation” Set to Air in January 2014 — Sōma Saitō and Yūichirō Umehara Reprise Their Drama CD Roles

The TV anime adaptation of Misaki’s fantasy novel “Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation” (published by TO Books) is set to premiere in January 2026. Sōma Saitō has been cast as the main character, Lizel, alongside Yūichirō Umehara as her partner, Jill. A teaser visual and promotional video have also been released.

The original story was first published on the user-generated novel site Shōsetsuka ni Narō under the title “I’ll Enjoy It as a Vacation.” The print edition was later renamed “A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation,” which is also the title of the upcoming anime. The series has sold over 1.8 million copies to date.

The story follows Lizel, the brilliant prime minister of a powerful fantasy kingdom, who one day finds herself transported to another world. Using her wit and eloquence, she quickly wins over the hearts of the locals. Deciding to treat this new life as a “vacation,” Lizel becomes an adventurer and enjoys peaceful days alongside her partner Jill, a top-class adventurer.

Sōma Saitō voices Lizel, a calm and intelligent young noble, while Yūichirō Umehara plays Jill, a powerful adventurer known by the nickname “Itto,” who follows no one and never flatters. Both actors will reprise their roles from the popular drama CD series that began in 2019.

The anime will be directed by Kenta Noda, known for his work as assistant director on Duel Masters!. Series composition will be handled by Yosuke Suzuki, a scriptwriter for Doraemon. Character designs are by Akito Fujiwara, who previously served as animation director for Duel Masters!.

Animation production is being handled by SynergySP (Goodbye Dragon Life, Hello Life), with Ascension (Duel Masters!) supporting the animation production.

The teaser PV features voice clips of Lizel after arriving in another world, meeting Jill, and deciding to treat his new life as a “vacation.” The teaser visual shows Lizel and Jill taking a relaxing stroll through the royal capital.

Q1. What is your impression of this work?
First of all, I think the concept is truly wonderful—traveling to a world that’s not drastically different from our own, just slightly unusual, and spending a refined holiday there. Fortunately, I’ve had the opportunity to read the original novel aloud, and I really enjoy the witty dialogue not only between Lizel, Jill, and the Elevens, but also among many other charming characters. Personally, I also found the food in the story to be very appealing! If a collaboration café were to recreate those dishes… I’d absolutely want to visit.

Q2. Please tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the character.
Lizel is such a refined person that anyone who sees him would instantly recognize his noble bearing. I think his perspective gives the entire story a unique tone. That said, what makes Lizel so charming is that he’s not the strongest or a genius. He doesn’t try to do everything perfectly—he simply enjoys the world as a “vacation,” and I love how relaxed and composed he is. He also has some adorable traits, like struggling to wake up in the morning and having a surprisingly high tolerance for alcohol.

Q1. What is your impression of this work?
I find the dialogue between the characters to be especially captivating. As more characters are introduced, the conversations become increasingly witty, which is why I felt this series was a perfect fit for a drama CD. Now that it’s being adapted into an anime, I believe the characters will feel even more alive on screen.

Q2. Please share your enthusiasm for playing the character.
Jill is blunt and can come across as intimidating, but he also takes great care of those he respects—and I think that’s what makes him such a compelling character. He finds Lizel to be a particularly interesting person, and while Jill is incredibly strong and dependable, he also provides a real sense of security as a partner. I’ve been playing Jill for quite a while now, but this time, we’re recording with the full cast, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how the character dynamics develop in this new format.

Honestly, I’m still trying to process the surprise of the third book release, and now—with the manga, drama CDs, and an anime coming out—it feels like my emotions can’t quite keep up with reality. Still, no matter where they go, the Lizels will continue to be themselves, living their lives as usual. I hope you’ll enjoy watching their peaceful, everyday moments unfold at a gentle pace. If the anime can bring a bit of calm or comfort to your day, I couldn’t ask for more.
