Binan Haikara Anime Premieres July 7

It has been officially announced that the TV anime “Binan Koukou Chikyu Boeibu Haikara!” will premiere on July 7. The cast includes Takano Taiga, Nagaoka Ryuho, Kanze Tomoaki, Koike Takahiro, and Kusano Taichi as the “Haikara Romantic Group,” while Maeno Tomoaki, Azakami Yohei, and Yamashita Daiki will voice the “Bankara Shin’ei Tai.” A new promotional video and the second key visual have also been released.

The film is the latest installment in the original anime series Binan High School Earth Defense Club, which began with Binan High School Earth Defense Club LOVE! in 2015. Set in the Taisho era, the story follows five male students at Binan High School who belong to the “Earth Defense Club,” a club known for doing absolutely nothing, and live together in the Kurotama dormitory. Their lives change when Nuru, a talking Pallas’s cat from the future, grants them the power to transform into the “Haikara Romantic Troops” using mysterious feline science. Together, they face off against the “Bankara New Corps,” a group bent on taking over the Earth.

The series is set to premiere on July 7, airing at 11:00 PM on TOKYO MX and 11:30 PM on BS Nippon TV.

Takano Taiga will voice Unzen Shinkurou, a member of the “Haikara Romantic Group” who has a passion for all things new. Nagaoka Ryuho plays the narcissistic Sukayu Narushi, Kanze Tomoaki portrays the family-loving Unohana Sosuke, Koike Takahiro voices the big eater Oshamanbe Ushio, and Kusano Taichi plays Aso Akuta, who firmly believes he’s the cutest person alive.

Maeno Tomoaki takes on the role of Domeki Straight, the president of Mayunan High School’s student council and a member of the “Bankara Shin’ei Tai.” Azakami Yohei voices Nyuto Samon, Domeki’s fiercely loyal vice-president, while Yamashita Daiki plays Nekoma Tasuku, the secretary aiming to overthrow the elite.

Additional cast includes Nishimura Tomomichi as Nuru, the talking Pallas’s cat from the future; Yasumoto Hiroki as Can, a mysterious prairie dog picked up by Domeki; and Sugita Tomokazu as Gotemba, the head of the Kurotama dormitory.

The opening theme song, “Haikara de GO!!”, is performed by the five members of the Haikara Romantic Group—Takano Taiga, Nagaoka Ryuho, Kanze Tomoaki, Koike Takahiro, and Kusano Taichi. The ending theme, “Zanko in your eyes”, is sung by the three members of the Bankara Shin’ei Tai—Maeno Tomoaki, Azakami Yohei, and Yamashita Daiki.

The series will be directed by Shinji Takamatsu, a familiar name to fans of the franchise. The script is written by Takashi Aoshima, known for Shikanoko Konokoko Shitantan. Character design and chief animation direction will be handled by Ayaka Murakami, who previously worked as an assistant character designer on Sasaki and Miyano. Animation production is being handled by Studio Deen, also known for Sasaki and Miyano.

The newly released promotional video—marking the first look at the anime’s animation—features the main characters appearing one after another, set against a retro Taisho-era streetscape, with their voices and the opening theme “Haikara de GO!!” playing in the background. The video includes transformation scenes of the Haikara Romantic Group and a dramatic confrontation with the Bankara Shin’ei Tai. The second key visual showcases the three members of the Bankara Shin’ei Tai along with the mysterious character, Can.

It has also been announced that a special live program featuring the cast of the Haikara Romantic Group will be streamed biweekly starting in July, with a pre-stream scheduled for late June.

To celebrate the new production, all previous entries in the Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu series are now available for streaming. Episodes 1 to 3 of LOVE!, LOVE! LOVE!, and HAPPY KISS! are currently streaming, with three new episodes from LOVE! set to be released weekly beginning April 28 at 10:00 PM. Additionally, the OVA Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! is also slated for release.
