“BULLET/BULLET” will be exclusively distributed on Disney Plus from July 16th. Cast information including Marina Inoue, Kazuhiro Yamaji, Rie Kugimiya and others and teaser PV released.
The original anime “BULLET/BULLET” will be exclusively distributed on Disney+’s “Star” from July 16th, and it has been revealed that Marina Inoue, Kazuhiro Yamaji, Rie Kugimiya, Kana Hanazawa, Tomokazu Seki, Ai Orikasa, Asami Seto, Makoto Furukawa, Takamasa Mogi, and Yuki Wakai will appear. A teaser PV and key visuals have also been released.
The film is the first completely original work by director Park Sung-hoo, who has worked on “THE GOD OF HIGH SCHOOL” and “Jujutsu Kaisen” (season 1). In the near future, when civilization has collapsed and the wilderness has been destroyed, a boy named Gear, who runs a “thief shop” that recovers items that have been unjustly stolen, is asked by a mysterious girl named Noah to steal a “secret” that could shake the world, and is pursued by armed groups and vicious assassins.
Inoue plays the role of Gear, a boy who works at a junk shop and also works as a thief. Yamaji plays Shirokuma, who runs a thief business alongside Gear, Kugimiya plays Nosa-nee, who treats Gear like a younger brother, Hanazawa plays Kau-nee, Nosa-nee’s twin sister with a delinquent temperament, Seki plays Naka-nii, a laid-back uncle who is treated badly by the twin sisters, and Orikasa plays Ei-ba, a kind-hearted grandmother who is in charge of cooking for the team. Seto plays Noa, a mysterious beautiful girl who is being chased by a hitman, Furukawa plays Barrel, the boss of an armed group in the wilderness, Mogi plays Wheel, Barrel’s aide, and Wakai plays Rin, a police officer who has a secret identity as a member of a certain organization.
The teaser PV starts with Gear, Polar Bear, and Qu-0213 going to work as thieves. Noah and Barrel also appear with voices, and at the end there is a scene related to the shocking “secret of the world” that Gear learns. The key visual shows Gears in a classic car racing along with the catchphrase “Junkies, change the world to pop!”, as well as Noah, Barrel, Rin, and the vicious assassins chasing them.
The full comments from the cast are as follows.
[Inoue Marina (Gear)] I played the role of Gear, the main character in “BULLET/BULLET”. Gear has a strong desire to jump out into the outside world. I played the role while pursuing the mystery of where that desire comes from. There are many unpredictable things that come with an original story, but first of all, I hope you will enjoy the unique and crazy characters to the fullest! [Yamaji Kazuhiro (Polar Bear)] It must have been years ago at the end of the year party. Director Park told me, “Yamaji-san, next up is the polar bear.” What on earth is he talking about? Are we making an animation about animals? Am I the bear? Is it a white Winnie the Pooh or something? I thought, not really understanding, but I said, “Yes, thank you very much. Hahaha…” and accepted it lightly. I never expected that such mysterious things would appear one after another! The recording was difficult, but this sense of reckless speed is something only the director can do. It’s a masterpiece that I’m terribly looking forward to seeing the finished product. Take a look.
[Kugimiya Rie (Nosa-nee)] I’m Kugimiya Rie, who played the role of Nosa-nee in “BULLET/BULLET”. It’s a slightly strange role, one of several characters installed in one robot, and even if I put it into words, I’m a little unsure if this is the right way to describe it. Or rather, it feels like a work with an overwhelming number of strange things. I think it’s a work that will be full of fun to watch as she gradually accumulates experience, so please look forward to it!
[Hanazawa Kana (role of Kau-nee)] Kau-nee is one of the robotic human personalities, and although she has a bad mouth, she is a cheerful, caring, and reliable older sister. She always takes care of the Gears together with Nosa-nee, and you can feel her deep affection in their interactions. During the dubbing, there were many scenes where I worked in sync with Kugimiya-san, who plays Nosa-nee, and as someone who loves Kugimiya-san, it was like a reward for me. I hope you look forward to the fast-paced story and the brilliant action scenes. And as a fan, I’m also looking forward to Director Park’s latest work!
[Seki Tomokazu (role of Naka-ni)] I’m Seki Tomokazu, who will be voicing Naka-ni in “BULLET/BULLET”. This work is full of speed, with the sense of Director Park and other creators exploding, and dubbing was also a lot of fun! I think the creation of Naka-ni’s character was fun, with a lot of trial and error with the staff, so I hope you’ll pay attention to it!
[Orikasa Ai (role of Ei-ba)] Ei-ba is one of the personalities within an AI robot. She is a kind woman who watches over the protagonist’s growth… and sometimes she is strong (lol). I was happy to play Ei-ba. I hope you think, “It would be nice to have a grandmother like this in your family!” Please also enjoy Ei-ba’s lively performance when she cooks.♡
The powerful car action, the well-paced conversations, and the cool footage created by the wonderful staff – please enjoy! Please enjoy! !
[Seto Asami (role of Noah)] When I first saw Noah, I had the impression that she was a beautiful blonde with a competitive personality. Her meeting with Gear seemed somewhat artificial, her true nature was not visible, and there was something mysterious about her. She has a mature air about her age, and I tried to play her while cherishing why she is like that. I hope you enjoy watching the unique characters survive in this super fun non-stop action.
[Furukawa Makoto (Barrel)] I’m Furukawa Makoto, the voice of Barrel. I think one of the themes of this work is “how to face your own way of life”. In the midst of all this, I feel that he is a person who bends his beliefs and changes the destination he wants to reach, but remains steadfast in trying to complete his work. As the story progresses, various mysteries will be revealed, and I hope you will watch the video to see how Barrel interacts with the main characters, the Gears, in this story. Please look forward to “BULLET/BULLET”!
[Mogi Takamasa (Wheel)] I’m Mogi Takamasa, who played the role of Wheel. This work is a thrilling story of “cool guys driving cool cars to the ends of the wilderness, and driving crazy guys in a crazy world to the ends of the wilderness!” Among the many high-spirited guys, Wheel is a calm and collected agent who reliably follows orders given to him, and as the right-hand man of the boss of the organization, Barrel, he blocks the path of the main characters, Gear and company. Many other characters with unique personalities will also appear and cause mayhem all over the screen, so we’re sure to see some crazy entertainment like a rollercoaster…!? I’m looking forward to the broadcast! Gotcha! [Wakai Yuki (Rin)] I’m Wakai Yuki, who will be playing the role of Rin in “BULLET/BULLET”! Since it’s a completely original story, I was excited and nervous to participate in the dubbing with the wonderful cast every episode! The character I play, Rin, has many cool sides, but also a very human side, so I played her with a lot of sympathy and care. The action scenes are very cool and there are plenty of exciting developments! Please enjoy until the end!
