The main cast of the TV anime “Gnosia” has been announced, with Anzai Chika, Hasegawa Ikumi, Kito Akari, Nanami Hiroki, and Seto Asami confirmed to appear. The first PV, staff, and key visuals were also released, and it was also revealed that the broadcast will begin in October of this year.
The original is a sci-fi mystery game based on the “Werewolf Game” motif by the game development group “Petit Depot.” It was released as a PlayStation Vita software in 2019, and has also been ported to Nintendo Switch, Steam, PlayStation, and XBOX. Set on a drifting spaceship, after an unknown enemy called “Gnosia” that disguises itself as a human and attacks humans has infiltrated the ship, the crew members vote to select suspicious crew members and put them into cold sleep. Humans will win if they can put all of the Gnosia into cold sleep, so the protagonist, Yuri, must make the right choice, but no matter what choice he makes, he will end up looping back to the very first day.

Anzai plays the protagonist Yuri. Hasegawa plays Setsu, a soldier who takes command of the Gnosia elimination, Kito plays SQ, who always livens up the place with his playful attitude, Nanami plays Rakio, who is characterized by his harsh way of speaking and flashy decorations, and Seto plays Jina, who is often perceived as cold but is actually kind-hearted.

The first PV begins with a scene in which the amnesiac Yuri wakes up, and the main characters, all with their own unique personalities, appear along with their character voices. A key visual is also included towards the end, with ten characters depicted in silhouette standing behind Yuri and friends, their eyes glowing suspiciously.
The director is Ichikawa Ryoya (Touken Ranbu Kai: Doden: The Close Samurai) with series composition and scriptwriting by Hanada Jukki (Sound! Euphonium) and character design by Matsuura Arisa (Seven Knights Revolution: Heroes’ Successors). The music is by Fukasawa Hideyuki (Orient) and animation is by domerica (Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden: Moeyuru Honnoji).
The key visual features the five main characters, including Yuri, with the silhouettes of 10 other characters in the background, along with the catchphrase, “The choice is doubtful, only one–“.
It has also been decided that the main cast will appear on a special stage for this work to be held at the Aniplex booth at “AnimeJapan 2025”, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 22nd. The stage will start at noon on the 22nd, with Anzai, Hasegawa, Kito, Nanami, and Seto taking to the stage for a talk show.
The full comments from Anzai and the other main cast, director Ichikawa and other staff, producers Kawakatsu Toru (Petit Depot) and Kimura Yoshitaka (Aniplex) are below. A commemorative illustration of Yuri’s unveiling by character designer Kotori has also been released.
[Anzai Chika (Yuri)]
(C)Petit Depotto/Project D.Q.O.
I’m Anzai Chika, the voice of Yuri. I’ll be the voice of the player in the game. Just like when you played the game, Yuri talks, thinks, and fights, so I hope you’ll feel nostalgic and gain new realizations through Yuri. Please look forward to the excitement of seeing the in-game system animated, and the excitement of seeing those characters move and talk! And for those who are encountering “Gnosia” for the first time through this work, I hope it makes you want to try playing the game! Thank you!
[Hasegawa Ikumi (voice of Setsu)]
(C)Petit Depotto/Project D.Q.O.
I’m Hasegawa Ikumi, and I’ll be the voice of Setsu. My first and honest impression was, “How are they going to turn this work into an anime!?” I open the script with excitement every episode. I’m very honored to be entrusted with the role of Setsu in this work that so many people cherish. Please look forward to the anime “Gnosia”!
Let’s start the discussion to help us survive.
[Kitou Akari (role of SQ)]
(C)Petit Depotto/Project D.Q.O.
I’m playing the free-spirited and cute SQ, hoping that she’ll be a spice to this work in a good way. The more I get to know this work, the more I’m drawn to it, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it will be portrayed in animation!
[Nanami Hiroki (role of Rakio)]
(C)Petit Depotto/Project D.Q.O.
I am very happy to be in charge of the voice of Rakio. Rakio is a difficult genius with sharp deductive powers, which means he is constantly at odds with those around him. However, I feel that his strength is what makes him so appealing. I will do my best to express the conflict and aesthetics that lie deep within his logic and pride. “Gnosia” is a story about the search for the truth in a loop where logic and doubt intersect. What awaits at the end of the loop? Please enjoy this worldview through the anime.
[Seto Masami (role of Jina)]
(C)Petit Depotto/Project D.Q.O.
In order to survive, it is necessary to suspect the other person. The warmth of the words spoken, the distance, the movements, and the way the expressions are drawn can all affect many of these subtleties, so I am very excited to see how the story will be constructed and depicted. I will do my best to carefully express the gentle Jina and her emotional movements.
[Ichikawa Ryoya (Director)] The anime “Gnosia” is currently in production. It’s a continuous process of trial and error to express the tension of the story and the charm of the characters. All the staff are working hard on the work so that we can deliver the original work that is loved by fans as an interesting anime. There are many difficulties in video production, but we will overcome the difficulties and make it to the end. Please wait in the promised world line. Look forward to it!
[Hanada Jukki (Series composition/Script)] The original work is very dense, with a lot of space, werewolf, and time leaps, so the staff were boiling their heads every week as they turned it into an anime. Under extreme circumstances, the Gnosia and humans deceive each other. It’s the ultimate battle of wits to see through lies. I hope viewers will use their brains to the fullest and enjoy the show.
[Matsuura Arisa (Character Design)] In designing the characters, I was conscious of expressing the sexiness of the charming characters drawn by Kotori in the original work, and the madness they go through when they become Gnosia. I’m doing my best to recreate the atmosphere of the original work in the anime, so I hope that fans of the original work and those who are experiencing “Gnosia” for the first time will enjoy it.
[Fukasawa Hideyuki (Music)] I was shocked when I first heard the music for the game “Gnosia” and was speechless. Broken sounds, noise, someone’s singing voice, melody… I think that Q Flavor’s sound world itself was an important element in shaping the worldview of the game. With the anime “Gnosia,” I am helping to expand Q Flavor’s work even further into the worldview unique to animation, so please look forward to it.
[Kawakatsu Toru (Petit Depot/Producer)] You can enjoy “Gnosia” twice.
If you’ve played the game, you can watch it as an observer of Yuri, the main character of the anime. If you became interested in “Gnosia” through the anime, I hope you’ll become the main character of the game and enjoy your own unique playing experience.
If the game is perfect, the anime, which aims to be another complete form, will be a work with many highlights, incorporating various elements such as psychological warfare, heated dialogue, and the original story, as well as new direction and episodes depicted from Yuri’s perspective.
I’m truly grateful to Producer Kimura and I for the good fortune of having all the creators and cast members that we had hoped for participate, and I promise to work with you all to the fullest until the anime is completed.
[Kimura Yoshitaka (Aniplex/Producer)] I think everyone has a formative experience that made them fall in love with anime. For me, that was the movie version of “Kara no Kyoukai.”
More than 15 years have passed since it was made into an anime, but it hasn’t faded at all for me, and I think the impact I felt when I saw the “bird’s-eye view” will never fade.
When I first came into contact with “Gnosia”, I thought this work could become that for someone. I thought it would become an anime that I would love forever and never let go of my heart.
I met Kawakatsu-san from Petit Depot three years ago. Since then, there hasn’t been a day that went by without talking. I had many scriptwriting meetings with Director Ichikawa and screenwriter Hanada-san.
If the nature of “Gnosia” is that the truth emerges through repeated conversations, then I think the production of the anime “Gnosia” truly embodies that.
The universe of the anime “Gnosia” is the culmination of the efforts of all the staff involved. And the anime is only complete when it is watched by the fans. I hope you will enjoy that moment together.
As a “Gnosia” fan, I promise to do my best to prepare for the broadcast.
