“Maid-san wa Taberu Dake,” a story about the heartwarming daily life of a maid who comes to Japan from England, has been announced for a TV anime adaptation in 2026. Kana Ichinose will play the main character, Tachibana Suzume, and a teaser trailer and staff details have also been released.

The original work has been serialized on Kodansha’s manga distribution site “Comic DAYS” since 2019. The story follows Tachibana Suzume, who worked as a maid in a British mansion but ended up living in an apartment in Japan due to a certain incident. She becomes intrigued by the food of Japan, a foreign country, and happily enjoys it.

Ichinose plays Suzume, whose first time living abroad and living alone is shattered by the collapse of her mansion while she’s in Japan. Despite the worries of living abroad for the first time, she develops an interest in Japanese cuisine and tries new things every day.
In the trailer, after cleaning her apartment, Suzume stops by a taiyaki shop with a guidebook in hand and happily eats a taiyaki.
The series is directed by Ryosuke Izumiyasu (“Yo-kai Watch♪”), with series composition by Natsuko Takahashi (“The Reincarnated Noble’s Adventure in Another World: The Disciple of the Gods Who Knows No Self-Restraint”) and Saeka Fujimoto (“Rainy Cocoa Side G”), and character design by Chiaki Abe (“Yo-kai Watch♪ Jibanyan vs. Koma-san: The Great Battle of Mongee Nyan”). The music will be composed by Kitagawa Shori (ROUND TABLE), and animation will be produced by EMT Squared and Magic Bus, the studio behind “Shoot! Goal to the Future.”
The teaser visual shows Suzume leisurely eating a taiyaki on a bench beneath blooming cherry blossoms.

I will be playing the role of Suzume. My name is Ichinose Kana. I read the original work for the first time during the audition, and I was touched by Suzume’s calm and casual daily life. Her fresh reactions to food are always so adorable…! I will do my best to portray this adorable Suzume. Please enjoy the relaxed and warm daily lives of the sparrows!
