The spin-off manga of “Girls & Panzer”, “Girls & Panzer: More Love Love Operation!”, has been decided to be made into an anime. It will be screened in theaters from next winter in four acts. The main staff members and teaser visuals have been released.
“Girls & Panzer”, which was broadcast as a TV anime in 2012, is set in Japan where “Sensha-do”, a sport where tanks collide with each other, has become established as a traditional martial art for women, and depicts the fierce battles between girls belonging to tank driving clubs all over the country, including Nishizumi Miho (CV: Fuchigami Mai). The OVA “Final Chapter”, consisting of six chapters, has been in development since 2017. “Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu!”, which has been serialized by Nii Marco in “Monthly Comic Alive” (KADOKAWA) since 2013, reveals the unknown daily lives of Oarai Girls’ Academy, led by Miho, and the students who are devoted to tank warfare, as well as the people around them, and the interactions between the schools. The latest 23rd volume of the book will be released on March 22nd.
The anime version will be directed by Shimoda Masami of the “Zegapain” series, with series composition and scriptwriting by Kimura Nobuyuki of “Code Geass: Rose of the Recapture”. Sugimoto Isao will continue to be in charge of character design from the main series. Animation will be produced by P.A.WORKS of “SHIROBAKO”, along with “Actus”, which is in charge of the main series of “Girls und Panzer”.
The teaser visual shows Oarai Girls’ Academy and the Anglerfish Team jumping out of the manga.
The June issue of Monthly Comic Alive, on sale from April 25th, will have “More Love Love Operation!” on the cover and will come with an acrylic key chain featuring Darjeeling and Orange Pekoe using original illustrations by Nii Marco.
It has also been announced that a cast talk show for the Girls und Panzer series will be held at Tochigi TV Anime Festa, which will be held in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture on May 3rd. Yoshioka Maya, who plays Anchovy, the captain of Anzio High School, which is based in Tochigi Prefecture, will be on stage.
