“Kowloon Generic Romance” begins airing on April 5th. Details of Kengo Kawanishi’s appearance, theme song, second PV, key visuals, etc. announced

Kawasai Kengo will appear in “Kowloon Generic Romance”, a TV anime adaptation of the latest work by Jun Mayuzuki, a manga artist known for “Love is Like After the Rain”, and details of the opening and ending songs have been announced. The second PV, key visuals, and broadcast information have also been released.
The original work is currently being serialized in “Weekly Young Jump” (published by Shueisha). Reiko Kujirai (CV: Haruka Shiraishi), who works at a real estate agency in the nostalgic city of Kowloon Walled City, has a slight crush on her senior at work, Hajime Kudo (CV: Tomokazu Sugita). After learning from a photo that Kudo once had a fiance who looks just like her, Reiko soon approaches a big secret hidden in the city of Kowloon. The latest 11th volume of the book will be released on April 17th. A live-action movie starring Yoshioka Riho and others is scheduled for release within 2025.
Kasai will play Yuuron, a researcher who investigates the mysteries of Kowloon together with Hebinuma Miyuki (Okiayu Ryutaro), the president of the large company Hebinuma Pharmaceuticals.
The opening theme will be “Summertime Ghost” by Wednesday Campanella, and the ending song will be “Koi no Retronym” by singer-songwriter mekakushe.
The second PV depicts Kujirai’s daily life, who is aware of her love for Kudo, but is also torn by the existence of another self. In the second half, as “Summertime Ghost” plays, Yuuron, Kowloon residents Oguro (Suzushiro Sayumi), Reiko’s best friend Yang Ming (Koga Aoi), Hebinuma who approaches Reiko, and Thao Nguyen (Saka Yasuto), who knows about Kudo and Reiko’s past, also appear with their voices. The key visual, which shows all the main characters gathered in the streets of Kowloon, is accompanied by the catchphrase, “Love will unravel the secret.”
The series will begin airing on April 5th at 11pm on TV Tokyo and other stations. Full comments from the cast and theme song artist are as follows:

I am Kawanishi Kengo, who will be voicing Yulong in the anime “Kowloon Generic Romance”. I had never read the work before I was approached about this role, but I read it later and found it very mysterious and interesting, with people’s intentions intersecting, and I never got bored of watching it. I wanted to predict what would happen next, but knowing too much about it would affect my acting…it was frustrating. Yulong, who I will be voicing, is a character with a somewhat Kansai accent and a lovable personality, but he also has a mysterious aura about him, making him an intriguing character. I will do my best to make it enjoyable for both fans of the original work and those who are new to the anime, so please look forward to it.

I am very happy to be in charge of the theme song for “Kowloon Generic Romance”. I was captivated by the detailed character descriptions and nostalgic city backgrounds in the original manga, but as I continued reading, I had a mixture of emotions in my mind, wondering “What will happen next in the story?” The song “Summertime Ghost” was produced during the hot summer days, and I wrote the lyrics while seeking coolness in the form of iced coffee and electric fans that appear in the work. I hope that the song will be loved by fans as much as the original manga and anime. Thank you.

I’m mekakushe, and I’ve been in charge of the ending song for the anime “Kowloon Generic Romance”. I wrote this song hoping to incorporate the Hong Kong-style worldview of the work into the sound and capture the moment when love begins to move. Every day, my feelings for you are born and grow, and I want to give them new names over and over again. I hope you enjoy the feelings I put into “Retronomimation of Love” along with the work.
