The official title and June 27th release date for the completely new “Lupin III” animated film have been decided. The theme song will be a new song written by “B’z”

The official title of the latest animated film in the “Lupin the Third” series, which was reported to be produced in November 2024, has been decided as “LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE Immortal Bloodline” and it has been announced that it will be released on June 27th. It has also been revealed that “B’z” will be performing the theme song, and a teaser trailer and teaser visual have been released.

This is the first completely new animated film in the “Lupin III” series in about 30 years since “Lupin III: Dead or Alive.” It is directed by Koike Takeshi, who has worked on series such as “Lupin the III: Jigen Daisuke’s Gravestone,” “Lupin the III: Goemon Ishikawa’s Blood Spray,” and “Lupin the III: Fujiko Mine’s Lie.”

The title of the theme song written by B’z is “The IIIRD Eye”. The teaser trailer using this song depicts Lupin III (CV: Kanichi Kurita) and his gang aiming for a huge treasure hidden on a mysterious island that is not on the map. Lupin and his friends reach the island as if guided, and face the biggest challenge they have ever faced. At the end, there is a scene where Lupin III sinks to the bottom of the water.

The teaser visual shows Lupin III and his friends rushing out from the other side of a bullet hole. In a monochrome world of tension, the words “Let’s settle this” appear in crimson.

I was honored and very happy to be in charge of the music for Lupin III, which I have been watching since I was a child. I started working on the music as soon as I heard about it. When I received the offer, the first keyword and image that came to mind was “JAZZY”. I developed it from there and arrived at this form. I think it’s an interesting work with a mixture of B’z’s rock and jazz, and a gorgeous horn section. I’ve been looking forward to watching “Lupin III” every week since the first TV anime aired in 1971. The exciting action + Fujiko Mine’s sexiness made it a mature work that stood out from other anime at the time. My favorite characters are Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, and Inspector Zenigata, I like them all. But Fujiko Mine is probably the best. The song that plays at the end, “Walther P38”, is cool and melancholic even when I listen to it now. [Koushi Inaba (B’z/Vocals) (Theme Song)] While keeping in mind the “tension” of “LUPIN THE IIIRD,” which has become even cooler, I created “The IIIRD Eye” with an idea of endless desire and a kind of nobility that is not consumed by it.
