“Nao to Narrate New Sumikko Gurashi Anime – PV Released”

Actor Nao has been chosen to narrate the TV anime “Sumikko Gurashi: Koko ga Ochitsukundesu,” which will be broadcast every Friday on the Nippon Television information program “ZIP!” starting April 4th. In addition, a promotional video using footage from the anime has been released.

“Sumikko Gurashi”, which debuted in 2012, has gained popularity with its catchphrase “Don’t you feel calm when you’re in a corner?” and its slightly negative but unique characters such as the cold-sensitive “Polar Bear”, the insecure “Penguin?”, the leftover (?!) “Tonkatsu”, the shy “Cat”, and the “Lizard” who hides his true identity.

In the released video, along with narration by Nao, the Sumikkogurashi characters gather together to sleep in the corner of a room, share corners on the street, read in the corner of a shelf, and go cherry blossom viewing together in the spring. The everyday lives of the Sumikkogurashi characters who love their corners are depicted in a heartwarming way.

Nao, who serves as the narrator, said, “There were moments during the one-minute animation when I was reading while holding back tears, and it was a happy time for me,” and commented, “I hope that the warm and cute charm of Sumikko Gurashi will be conveyed with the arrival of warm spring.”

The TV anime “Sumikko Gurashi: Koko ga Ochitsukundesu” will be aired on Nippon TV’s “ZIP!” every Friday at around 7:30 a.m. starting April 4th. It will be available for free on TVer every Friday at noon, and on the official “ZIP!” YouTube channel every Friday at 9 a.m. for one week. It will also be available on Prime Video every Saturday at midnight starting April 19th.

I was honored and happy to be the narrator for the Sumikko Gurashi anime, which is loved by so many people. There were moments during the one-minute anime when I was holding back tears while reading, and it was a happy time. There is a reason why all the Sumikkogurashi characters gather in the corners to relax, and as you get to know them, you can empathize with them, want to support them, feel saved, and want to do your best tomorrow. I think they are characters that move you in many ways. I hope that the warm and cute charm of Sumikkogurashi will be conveyed to fans who have loved Sumikkogurashi up until now, and to those who are making their “Sumikkogurashi debut” just like I was able to meet them this time, as the warm spring arrives.
