The broadcast start date for “Kaoru Hana wa Dignified Bloom,” a TV anime adaptation of Mikami Saka’s manga, has been set for July, and the main cast including Nakayama Shotoku and Inoue Honoka have also been announced. Additionally, staff information, a promotional video revealing new information, and the first key visuals have also been released.
Nakayama will play the protagonist Rintaro, and Inoue will play the heroine Kaoruko. Toya Kikunosuke will play Rintaro’s friend Usami Shohei, Uchiyama Kouki will play Natsuzawa Saku, Ishibashi Aya will play Yoda Kento, and Yamane Ayaka will play Hoshina Subaru, Kaoruko’s childhood friend who attends the same Kikyo Girls’ School as her.
The staff includes director Kuroki Miyuki of “Ashita-chan’s Sailor Suit,” assistant director Yamaguchi Satoshi, who served as animation director on “SPY×FAMILY,” series composition by Yamazaki Rino of “Unite Up!”, character design and general animation director Tokuoka Kohei of “Mirai-iro no Fuukei,” and music by Harada Moeki.
The original is a youth school manga currently being serialized on the official Weekly Shonen Magazine app, “Magazine Pocket.” When the tough-looking Tsumugi Rintaro, who attends Chidori, a low-ranking boys’ school, and Waguri Kaoruko, a student at Kikyo Girls’ School, a prestigious girls’ school, meet at Rintaro’s family cake shop, the two, who live next door to each other but are “close yet far apart,” spend their vibrant youthful years together. The series is produced by CloverWorks, the studio behind “Bocchi the Rock!”.
The new information release trailer, which also includes character voices, features narration by Rintaro and Kaoruko, and depicts the six main characters and their respective expressions throughout the story.
The first key visual captures a scene from Chidori, the school Rintaro and his friends attend, and Kikyo, the school Kaoruko and his friends attend. The gazes of Rintaro and Kaoruko, who attend neighboring high schools but have no connection with each other, raise expectations for the changes in the world surrounding the two characters in the future.

Q1: How did you feel when you were selected to appear in the film? From the time I read the original manga, I was impressed by how warm the heart it was with every word the characters said, and I cried many times while reading it. I really wanted to pass the audition, so I was incredibly happy when I was selected!Shohei is the kind of person who naturally creates a good mood, so I hoped that the dubbing process would be as enjoyable as Shohei’s!Q2: Please tell us your enthusiasm for this film. The words that Kaoruko said to Rintaro, who had given up on many things because he looked scary and because he was Chidori, really hit home. Listening to the dubbing from behind, I was thrilled to see Rintaro and Kaoruko slowly but surely getting closer to each other! As Shohei, I will do my best to brighten up this wonderful story! Please look forward to the anime broadcast!!!

I’m Mikami, the original author.
I was also looking forward to the announcement that the cast has finally been released! The atmosphere of the characters was already complete at the time of the audition, but now that dubbing has started, I feel like the characters are speaking through everyone’s voices when I write the story. It shows how easily they entered my mind. In particular, the stars Nakayama and Inoue are so impressed that every time they say a line, I think, “Rintaro is so cool and Kaoruko is so cute!?” I enjoy listening to the characters’ dialogue every episode with a smile on my face, with the script in my hand. The staff led by Director Kuroki are also producing with overwhelming passion. I personally think that everyone shares the same values for the work and a sense of “maybe it would be even better if we did it this way,” so I am very grateful to be in an environment where I can express my opinions with confidence. I feel that I am able to produce the work surrounded by warm and gentle people like the characters of Kaoru Hana, with mutual respect. Thank you very much. The TV anime “Fragrant Flowers Bloom Bravely” will be broadcast in July! Look forward to it!!
