"My Hero Academia" spinoff "Vigilante"

Ayaka Senbongi, Kosuke Toriumi, and Tokua Kawashima will appear in “My Hero Academia” spinoff “Vigilante” Kocchino Kento will be in charge of the opening theme song for his first anime tie-up

Sayaka Senbongi, Kosuke Toriumi, and Tokua Kawashima have been confirmed to appear in the TV anime “Vigilante – My Hero Academia ILLEGALS -,” which will begin airing on April 7th, and the official trailer and key visual have been released. In addition, it has been decided that multi-artist Kocchino Kento will be in charge of the opening theme song “Kekka O-rai.” This will be his first song to be tied to an anime.

Many stills from the trailer have also been released.

The original work, written by Hideyuki Furuhashi (script) and Arahito Bete (illustrations), was serialized on the manga app “Shonen Jump+” from 2017 to 2022, and is an official spin-off of Kohei Horikoshi’s popular hero manga “My Hero Academia.” Set in Japan several years before the main story, it follows the story of Koichi Haimawa (Shuichiro Umeda), a college student who aspires to be a hero but has given up on his dream, who meets self-proclaimed idol Pop☆Step (Ikumi Hasegawa) and the mysterious masked man Knuckleduster (Yasuhiro Mamiya), and becomes involved in the activities of “Vigilante,” a group that illegally helps people.

Senbongi plays Kuin Hachisuka, a high school girl villain who controls bees, and Toriumi plays the role of the city’s roughneck Kugisaki Tsuga. Kawashima will continue to play Inspector Naomasa Tsukauchi from the main story.

The trailer, which uses the opening theme song “Kekka O-rai,” shows Koichi calling himself “The Crawler” and throwing himself into vigilante activities with his friends. Kuin and Clawga also appear with voices. The key visual is an illustration of Koichi and the other vigilantes, Kuin and other villains, and professional heroes including Shota Aizawa, who is also familiar from the main story, gathered in the city at night.

I’ve always loved this work and have read it, so when I heard I would be creating the song I was filled with joy and gratitude that they chose me. This is also my first anime opening song. I am truly blessed to be able to walk this path alongside the main character, Haimai Koichi. I am very confident about this song. I did my best to help the anime “Vigilante”. I hope you will look forward to it along with “Kekkaourai”.
