The original is a sci-fi action manga serialized in “Afternoon” (published by Kodansha) by Umezawa Shun. The story depicts Charlie, a boy of “Humanzee”, a hybrid of human and chimpanzee that combines the advantages of both, meeting Lucy, a girl who is intelligent but not good at communicating, and standing up against the terrorist organization “ALA” that is pursuing him with the aim of animal liberation. The total number of copies of the series has exceeded 1.8 million, and it has won various awards, including the Grand Prize of the “Manga Taisho 2022” and the Excellence Award in the Manga Division of the “25th Japan Media Arts Festival” by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. The latest volume 9 of the book is scheduled to be released on May 22nd.

The teaser PV features the first animated footage. It depicts Charlie’s superhuman physical abilities and suggests the existence of a mysterious organization. It also includes a scene featuring Rivera, a man with a mysterious smile, and his voice. The cast for Rivera has yet to be announced.
