It has been announced that the light novel “The Villainess Inside” (Ichijinsha) by Makiburo will be adapted into an anime. A prototype visual has also been unveiled.

The story is about Emi, who has been reincarnated as the villainous lady Remiria in an otome game, waking up and taking revenge on those who have hurt her in order to clear her name of the false accusation.

The comic version of the work, “The Villainess Inside – I will take revenge on the lying heroine for the condemned reincarnator” (by Shiraume Nazuna), was serialized in the web manga magazine “comic LAKE” and was updated on May 30th.

Comic Ends, But the Story Lives On in Animation

The announcement of “The Villainess Inside” anime adaptation marks a pivotal moment for fans, as the story transitions from manga to screen. With the comic serialization officially concluded, the anime has a unique opportunity to reinterpret or expand upon the original narrative. This trend—where completed manga series receive anime adaptations—continues to gain momentum, likely due to the strong fan engagement and streaming demand. It will be interesting to see how the anime handles the complex character dynamics and psychological themes that defined the manga’s appeal. Fans are now watching closely to see if the anime can deliver the same emotional depth or offer something entirely new.
