Synopsis: This film depicts the fierce battle on Peleliu Island, a hellish battlefield where only 34 out of 10,000 survived. What were the young men thinking and living through? It’s the summer of 1944. At the end of the Pacific War, Tamaru, a soldier aspiring to be a manga artist, is on Peleliu Island. It’s a paradise surrounded by coral reefs and covered in beautiful forests. And it’s a mad battlefield where 50,000 Japanese and American soldiers kill each other. 40,000 elite US troops attack with the aim of capturing the airfield, which was touted as the best in the Orient at the time. 10,000 Japanese garrison troops are fighting back, ordered to “endure to the end.” What were they fighting for, and what were their thoughts and feelings on this small island far from their homeland? This is the long-forgotten, true account of the young people who lived during the “war.” Cast
