Main visual

It has been announced that the manga “Nekoko no Goro ~Tenka Toitsu Hen~” by STUDY Yusaku, the author of “Kyou mo Tsuno ga Aru” (I Have Horns Today Too), will be made into an anime and will start airing as a one-minute short anime program on Kansai TV (Kantele) at 3:15 a.m. on July 3rd.

Obara Riko as Nekotaro

Ohara Riko plays the main character Nekotaro, Arai Rin plays his partner Goro’s assistant, and Nakamura Sougo plays Neko Matabei, the lord of Kagoshima’s Nekojima Castle. Arai also sings the theme song “Moeyase! Neko Tamashii” as Goro’s assistant.

The story is set in the Warring States period and follows the cats of “Neko Kono Goro” as they aim to unify the country in a relaxed manner. The anime version is directed by Namiki Hiroshi and sound director Saito Yu. Voice actor Asano Masumi is credited for the effects.

The full comment from the original author, STUDY Yusaku, is below.

[STUDY Yusaku (original work)] This work is an ambitious story about cats from all over the country building castles of their own accord and fighting over territory, centering on the cats of my hometown, Kagoshima. Unlike the previous “Nekokon no Goro” series, this is a manga and anime with a storyline, so we hope you enjoy watching the adventures of these unique cats!

A quirky feline quest for world domination hits the screen

“Neko no Goro Tenka Toitsu Hen” is more than just a cute cat anime—it’s a playful satire of historical war dramas, reimagined with feline warlords. With its chibi-style designs and bite-sized episodes, it’s poised to attract both animal lovers and fans of absurd comedy. The July 3 premiere comes at a perfect time, offering a light-hearted break during the intense summer anime season. This adaptation could develop a cult following similar to that of “Sengoku Basara” or “Hetalia,” especially if it leans into clever historical references and cat-centric puns.
