Synopsis: Shortly after a fierce battle with the Mononoke Karakasa, the medicine seller (Hiroshi Kamiya) reappears in the Ooku. The aftermath of the previous incident has brought about changes within the Ooku. Otomo Botan (Haruka Tomatsu), a member of a distinguished family who succeeded Utayama as general director, exercises strict discipline and balance. As a result, a rift develops between her and Fuki (Yoko Hikasa), a self-made court lady who enjoys the Emperor’s favor, and the gap between them only grows wider. As the guardianship selection process for the baby born to the Emperor’s wife, Midokoro Sachiko, progresses, a major incident occurs that changes Fuki’s situation. As a result, the machinations of men driven by consideration for Botan’s father, Otomo, close in on Fuki. Conflicting intentions and the schemes of the “firefighters” soon spiral out of control… At the same time, a series of incidents of spontaneous human combustion occur, with people bursting into flames and reduced to ashes. The medicine seller suspects that this is the work of a Mononoke and tries to defuse the situation, but is overwhelmed by the elusive monsters that move in groups. In order to slay the Mononoke, the medicine seller ventures into the darkness that lurks within the Ooku to discover their three aspects: form, truth, and reason. Music
