Conan Tops Box Office 4 Weeks in Row

The domestic movie rankings for May 9–11 have been announced by Kogyo Tsushinsha. “Detective Conan: The Flashback of the One-Eyed Man” remains at the top for the fourth consecutive weekend. It drew 444,000 viewers and earned 662 million yen, pushing its total to 7.86 million viewers and 11.3 billion yen in revenue. To celebrate surpassing 10 billion yen, an illustration by creator Gosho Aoyama was released, along with a special music video featuring new cuts set to the theme song by King Gnu.

“Minecraft: The Movie” held onto second place for the third week. “#TellMeTheTruth” climbed to third.

Among the new releases on May 9, “Uta no Prince-sama: Taboo Night XXXX” debuted in fourth place with 92,000 viewers and 189 million yen over its first three days. This third film in the “Uta☆Pri” series features a live performance by the anime’s idol group. As a release celebration, select T-Joy theaters are offering collaboration drinks with exclusive metallic stickers.

In fifth place was “Thunderbolts*,” followed by the revival screening of “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” in sixth. Originally released in 2020, “Mugen Train” earned over 40.4 billion yen. The revival features a full 4K remaster and comes ahead of the upcoming “Mugen Castle Arc” movie. The first bonus gift is a Rengoku Kyojuro birthday card.

Seventh place went to “Tabekko Animals THE MOVIE,” while the newly released “Paddington: The Secret of the Vanished Golden Land” ranked eighth. Rounding out the top ten were “Pope Election” at ninth and “Hanamanma” at tenth. Notably, “Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Picture World Story” rose to 11th in its tenth week.
