When Saving the World Takes a Backseat to Maid Duty
The light novel Heroine? Saint? No, I’m an All-Works Maid (Proud)! is officially getting a TV anime adaptation, and a teaser visual has been revealed.
Yume Miyamoto will voice Melody Wave, the loyal and hardworking maid, while Rumi Okubo will play Luciana Ruttleberg, a noble girl under Melody’s tutelage. EMT Squared will handle animation production.
In this unconventional fantasy, Melody is born with the destiny to save the world as the heroine of a girls’ game. Yet, rather than embracing her fate, she devotes her life to the art of maid work—taking pride in doing every odd job to perfection as an “all-works maid.”
Original creator Atekichi expressed joy and surprise at the anime adaptation, saying it felt like a dream come true. He also shared his deep affection for maids, and his hope that viewers will join him in watching over Melody’s passionate and unusual life.
What makes this series stand out is its reversal of typical isekai tropes. While most stories in the genre glorify destiny, heroism, and world-saving adventures, All-Works Maid celebrates the overlooked charm of everyday dedication. Melody doesn’t reject her fate out of rebellion—but out of passion. She finds fulfillment in labor, structure, and service, which gives the series a grounded yet comedic tone.
In a way, Melody redefines what it means to be a heroine: not through grand battles or prophecy, but by mastering the tasks that others might deem trivial. The story taps into the growing appeal of “slice-of-life fantasy” and may resonate with viewers tired of traditional power fantasies. With high-quality animation from EMT Squared and a strong voice cast, the anime has the potential to become a cult favorite among fans who enjoy character-driven comedy with heart.
