The original anime film BULLET/BULLET, which will begin streaming exclusively on Disney Plus “Star” from July 16, is set to be released in theaters in two parts.

The movie version will re-edit the 12 episodes from the streaming release into a two-part theatrical series. Bullet Run, the first part, will premiere on July 25, followed by the second part, Bullet Battle, on August 15 at Shinjuku Piccadilly and other theaters across Japan.

This is the first fully original anime film by director Park Sung-hoo, known for his work on the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen and the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Set in a post-apocalyptic future where civilization has collapsed into a wasteland, the story follows Gear (voiced by Marina Inoue), a boy who runs a “thief shop” that recovers unjustly stolen goods. One day, he and his companions are approached by a mysterious girl named Noah (voiced by Asami Seto), who asks them to steal a “secret” capable of shaking the world. Their mission soon puts them in the crosshairs of armed factions and deadly assassins.

It has also been announced that rapper and singer Chanmina will perform the film’s theme song. Titled WORK HARD, the track marks Chanmina’s first-ever anime tie-in and was written after in-depth discussions with director Park. The song will be available for streaming starting April 30. A new promotional video featuring the song has also been released.

Director Park personally approached me about WORK HARD last year during the production of BULLET/BULLET, and I was inspired by the theme of “working” and “having to work.” I poured my thoughts into the song about the importance of working hard, continuing to push forward, and finding the strength to overcome challenges. It’s a message of encouragement—for myself and for everyone who keeps going no matter what. I reflected on my own journey over the past ten years, filled with busyness and effort, and while I did incorporate some elements of the anime’s world, I feel this song is very much my own expression. Personally, I really love how it turned out. Let’s listen to WORK HARD and give it our all together!
