The TV anime “One Dance” is set to premiere in October. Along with the announcement, a teaser visual and cast details were revealed. Kouki Uchiyama will voice the protagonist, Hanaki Kotani, while Hina Hitsujimiya will voice the heroine, Hikari Wanita.
“One Dance” starts broadcasting in October
“One Dance” is a coming-of-age story about Kotanikaboku, a high school student with a stutter who struggles to express his feelings. He finds himself drawn to his classmate, Hikari Wanda, who dances freely without worrying about others’ opinions. Inspired by her, he takes on the challenge of expressing himself through “freestyle” dance, where words are not needed. The anime is based on a manga currently serialized in Afternoon, which has sold over 900,000 copies.
Hanaki Kotani
In addition to its bold and powerful dance scenes, the series is highly praised for its delicate portrayal of human relationships and bittersweet love, capturing the hearts of readers both in Japan and abroad. It has been translated into 10 languages and was awarded the North American manga prize “You Should Read This Manga 2023” as a work fans want to see animated. With many fans eagerly awaiting an anime adaptation, the long-anticipated series is finally coming to life.
Wanita Hikari
The animation will be produced by Madhouse and Cyclone Graphics, with world-renowned dancer RIEHATA, who has choreographed for many famous artists including BTS, serving as the dance producer. The series will feature a groundbreaking approach to dance animation like never before.

When I was first approached about adapting One Dance into an anime, the more I learned about dance, the more I wondered if it was really possible to express street dancing through animation. Then a certain idea came to me: what if the dancers themselves could “draw” the dance?
We are now filming using motion capture technology. Every time I see the passionate performances of these top dancers, I feel even more deeply the greatness of the manga One Dance. Watching them, it’s as if Kabo-kun and Wanda-san have truly come to life — it’s impossible not to be moved.
