The World’s Earliest Screening of “Detective Conan: Afterimage of the One Eye” Set for Midnight on April 18
It’s official—the world’s earliest screening of the highly anticipated anime film Detective Conan: Afterimage of the One Eye will take place from midnight on April 18, the day of its release. Just like last year, there will be no advance preview screenings, but fans can catch the first showing at 23 theaters across 10 prefectures in Japan, starting at the stroke of midnight.

“Sleepless Kogoro” Takes Over Japan Ahead of World’s Earliest Screening of New Detective Conan Movie
As soon as the date changes, tickets for Detective Conan: Afterimage of the One Eye will go on sale at midnight on April 14 via each theater’s official website. Fans will get the world’s first chance to dive into this year’s Conan mystery and uncover the hidden truth behind the “sleeping memory” that no one has seen before.
Adding to the excitement, Kogoro Mouri—the “Sleeping Detective” and key figure in this year’s film—will appear in bold outdoor ads across five major cities in Japan. A striking visual of “Sleepless Kogoro” is set to energize what’s being dubbed the “Sleepless City” campaign.
The ads, which start going up as early as tomorrow, show Kogoro wide awake with one eye open—a callback to the viral “NON SLEEPING PROMOTION” launched on February 26. Alongside the phrase “I’m not sleeping this time!”, the edgy design stands out and grabs attention. These visuals will be displayed in five bustling nightlife areas: Susukino, Kabukicho, Dotonbori, Sakae, and Tenjin.
In Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district, fans can expect an especially large-scale display. Massive wall ads and digital signage will cover the Toho Building, home to TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku. On Godzilla Road, a 118-meter stretch will be lined with four different types of flags. Plus, special public service announcements voiced by Conan and Kogoro—played in two versions—will air every 15 minutes as part of a unique “awareness broadcast.”
Since Kogoro “woke up” on February 26, the promotional campaign has been going full throttle. With just one week left until the film’s release, anticipation is reaching fever pitch—and there’s no time to sleep!
