“Toi-san Anime Film ‘Fools, Phones & Romance’ Hits Theaters July 18”

“Toi-san Wants to Be Young!”, written and directed by “Strawberry Prince”‘s Gel, will be released on July 18th. The super teaser video has arrived.

The animated film “Toi-san Wants to Have a Youth! “Idiot, Smartphone, and Romance”, based on the original work by Gel, a member of the 2.5-dimensional idol group “Strawberry Prince”, has been decided to be released nationwide from July 18th. The super special video (teaser movie) has been released.

This is the movie version of the “Toi-san” short animated video series, which has been released over 1,000 times and has been viewed over 10 billion times. The series, which started in 2019, was planned and scripted by Gel, who also voiced all the characters, and was also involved in video editing and character design. The story depicts high school girl Toi Akane, who had intended to live a normal youth, getting caught up in her unconventional handsome classmate Gel and her unique classmates, and spending her days full of manzai and comedy sketches.

“Miss Toi Wants to Have a Youth! Baka to Smartphone to Romance” is the official title of the theatrical anime version, whose production was announced in January. Nanamori of STPR Studio will be in charge of planning and general production, and Gel will be the original author and executive producer. Mankyu of “Sumikko Gurashi Movie: The Pop-up Picture Book and the Secret Child” will be the director, and Gel and Yoichi Kato of “Idol Precure with You♪” will be in charge of the script, and Akemi Kobayashi of “Cheese Sweet Home” will be in charge of character design. Animation will be produced by Seven Arcs of “Tonikaku Kawaii” (Season 2).

It was also announced that the lyrics and composition of the opening theme song “Meccha Tooi! feat. Jell & Miss Toi” will be handled by Koyama Takuya of the three-member band “Yabai T-shirt Shop.” The character songs are sung by Jell and Akane, and Jell himself will continue to be in charge of the voices for both songs from the short videos.
The super special video shows a part of the audio of “Meccha Tooi! feat. Jell & Miss Toi.” Familiar characters from the short videos, Jell, Akane, Yuri, Satan, Momo, and Otaku, appear, and the video includes the scene where Akane and Jell meet, and the scene where Akane wears her trademark orange knit for the first time.
A limited number of advance tickets for the movie ticket will be sold in the merchandise corner of the large-scale live festival “STPR Faily Festival!!” to be held at Belluna Dome in Saitama on April 4th, in which “Strawberry Prince” will also participate. The novel version design includes a replica of Gel’s signature and is priced at 1,500 yen.
