The Sunrise Robot Laboratory has decided to release an experimental video, “BLUE GALE XABUNGLE SIDE L,” based on the TV anime “Combat Mecha Xabungle” in May. Details will be announced at a later date. The teaser PV has been released.
Broadcast in 1982, “Combat Mecha Xabungle” is a sci-fi robot anime created by director Yoshiyuki Tomino, the original author of “Mobile Suit Gundam.” Set on a planet known as Planet Zola, the story follows protagonist Jiron Amos (Otaki Shinya) as he pursues Timp Sharon (voiced by Ginga Banjō), who killed his parents and broke the rule that any crime is forgiven if you can escape for three days. When Jiron Amos plots to steal a walker machine (giant robot) called Xabungle, he meets Elchi Cargo (Yokoo Mari), the daughter of a merchant, and Rag Uralo (Shimazu Saeko), the leader of the bandit group “Sandrat”, and eventually defeats the rule of the “Innocents” who control the world.

The Sunrise Robot Laboratory is a research institute (website) established to study and explore robots and mecha that appear in Sunrise works. It was launched in May 2012, and in the same year, it released experimental videos “AURA BATTLER DUNBINE SIDE L” and “AURA BATTLER DUNBINE SIDE R” based on Tomino’s work “Aura Battler Dunbine” broadcast in 1983. In “SIDE L,” the opening and ending videos from the time of broadcast are reproduced using current direction and technology. In “SIDE R,” new videos are produced based on the worldview of the work, incorporating new interpretations and arrangements.

The teaser PV for “BLUE GALE XABUNGLE SIDE L” includes a 3DCG representation of Xabungle gliding across the ground from the remade opening video.
