"Onmyou Kaiten Re:Birth" to air in July

David Production’s first original anime “Onmyou Kaiten Re:Birth” to air in July, starring Kimura Taihi, Uchida Maaya, and Kimura Ryohei

The TV anime “Onmyou Kaiten Re:Birth”, the first original work by david production, which also produced the anime “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” series and “Fire Force”, has been announced to air from July. The cast of Kimura Taihi, Uchida Maaya, and Kimura Ryohei, as well as the main staff, have been revealed. The first promotional video and teaser visuals have also been released.

The film is an action-packed battle story set in Dengi Heiankyo, a city where technology has evolved to a high degree. After an accident, hot-blooded Yankee Narihira Takeru finds himself lost in Dengi Heiankyo from the modern world. He is excited by his fateful encounter with Tsukimiya, a girl he has met many times in his dreams, but he and Tsukimiya lose their lives to a monster called “Oni” in the sudden black mist “Yami Kaoru.” Takeru wakes up in Dengi Heiankyo again through a time leap and decides to become an onmyoji and fight to change the future.

Kimura Taihi plays Takeshi, a man with a strong sense of justice who is reckless and will see things through to the end once he has made a decision. Uchida plays Tsukimiya, a dancer who appears once in a millennium and enjoys idol-like popularity in Dengi Heiankyo, and Kimura Ryohei plays Abe no Seimei, the most powerful onmyoji who stands at the top of the onmyoji who protect Dengi Heiankyo.

The original creator and director is Takahashi Hideya of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind”, the series is composed by Mori Hayashi of “SAND LAND: THE SERIES”, the character design is Morita Kazuaki of “Assassination Classroom”, and the music is by Tokuda Masahiro of the drama “silent”. The plot is created by light novel writer Sato Akuto, who wrote the novel “I Won’t Stop Dying Until You Smile”, and the world setting is researched by Shibata Katsuie, a science fiction writer known for the “Psychic Science Investigator Series”.
The first PV contains the introduction to the story of Takeshi’s reincarnation in Dengi Heiankyo. Tsukimiya and Abe no Seimei also appear with voices. The teaser visual shows the three of them falling into the gorgeous Dengi Heiankyo along with Takeshi’s words of determination, “I’ll definitely save you! Even if it’s a different world! No matter how many times I die!”
In addition, a comic book adaptation of “Meganebashi Hanako’s Mitate” by Matsumoto Kyukyu has been serialized since February on Kodansha’s web comic site “Morning Two.”

[Uchida Maaya (Tsukimiya)]

I’m Uchida Maaya, and I’ll be playing the role of Tsukimiya in “Onmyou Kaiten Re:Birth”! When I heard about the role, I was drawn to the worldview and wanted to participate, so I auditioned, and I’m very happy to have been selected!! Takeru’s struggle is heartwarming. I’d like to see the end of this story together with Tsukimiya. Thank you!

[Kimura Ryohei (Abe no Seimei)]

I’ve always loved the combination of Japanese and cyber worlds, and I couldn’t stop being excited. And the scenario that will surely betray you in every episode, and the characters who are fun and unfathomable, make the recordings every week interesting. What role will Abe no Seimei, whose name is familiar to everyone, play? Look forward to it!!!

[Takahashi Hideya (original concept/director)] This project started with a suggestion that “Onmyoji are cool, aren’t they?” We packed in a lot of things that all the staff wanted to do! The greatest appeal of this work is the raging development. The story progresses without a moment’s pause. It’s a work filled with many twists, and I hope that when you finish watching it, you’ll feel like you want to watch it again.

[Mori Hayashi (series composition)] Of all the anime I’ve worked on, there’s no doubt that this was the one that took the longest time to create the plot and script. It was about conveying a story and setting that could be complicated in an easy-to-understand way. I think that was the mission that was given to me as a scriptwriter. So, I would be happy if it could reach as many people as possible and be enjoyed.

[Morita Kazuaki (Character Design)] I am Morita, who designed the characters. Although this is my second time drawing an original character, I packed everything I have into the work. I am looking forward to seeing how viewers will accept Takeshi, Seimei, and Tsukimiya. Thank you!

[Sato Akuto (Plot Original)] When you think of onmyoji, you may imagine elegant and mysterious magicians operating secretly in the glamorous city of Kyoto, but the main character of this work is quite an idiot. I would be happy if you could see how the endlessly straightforward Takeru runs through this quirky world!

[Shibata Katsuie (Worldview Setting Research)] I am Shibata Katsuie. Some of you may be wondering why there are Sengoku warlords, but please ignore that. After all, Onmyodo was important even in the Warring States period. Well, to tell you the truth, I am a science fiction writer, so I became involved in this work as someone who is knowledgeable about science fiction. So, please pay attention to how Onmyodo and science fiction are connected.

[Kitsuneiro (concept art)] I am Kitsuneiro, who was in charge of the concept art for the world view. I was able to enjoy being involved in the production by traveling around Kyoto and collecting materials and consulting with the director. I hope that the settings I was involved in this time will help to enhance the appeal of the work.

[Tokuda Masahiro (music)] I was in charge of the music for “Onmyou Kaiten Re:Birth”. I used music to color the magnificent world view of Dengi Heiankyo, the fierce battle between onmyoji and onjin, and Takeshi’s passionate soul.
