It has been announced that “ONE PIECE novel HEROINES,” a novelization of Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga “ONE PIECE,” will be adapted into an anime. The announcement was made during the large-scale event “ONE PIECE DAY ’25,” held on August 9th and 10th.

“ONE PIECE novel HEROINES” is a collection of short stories (author: Jun Esaka) featuring female characters from “ONE PIECE.” The stories showcase the individuality of female characters not seen in the original manga, such as Nami appearing in a fashion show, Robin helping Koala and Sabo decipher the stone tablets, and Vivi, the subject of rumors due to her love letters.

Celebrating the Women of ONE PIECE – From Nami’s Wit to the Strength of Every Heroine

The announcement of an anime adaptation for “ONE PIECE novel HEROINES” is more than just another spin-off; it’s a rare opportunity for female characters in ONE PIECE to step into the spotlight without being overshadowed by the series’ main, male-led narrative. Each heroine—Nami, Robin, Vivi, Boa Hancock, and others—has her own unique journey, motivations, and worldview. By focusing on these perspectives, the adaptation can enrich the ONE PIECE universe with fresh emotional layers and untold moments. If handled well, it may also address long-standing fan requests for more female-led stories, proving that the women of ONE PIECE are not only integral to the plot but also capable of carrying compelling narratives on their own.
