The main PV “Inheritance of Will” depicts the inheritance of the will of the defense force. Shinomiya Kikoru aims to join the defense force to help her mother, and vows to herself that she will not let her comrades die on the battlefield where she is. And Kafka, even though he has become a monster, transforms his determination to believe in his comrades into strength. The will of the defense force, which has been passed down from Shinomiya Isao and Hikari to Narumi Gen and Ashiro Mina, is passed down to the next generation, including Kafka and Kikoru, and the next generation awakens. How will the defense force members, who fight with the hopes entrusted to them by their predecessors, grow and illuminate the future? The determination, change, and growth of the defense force members are dramatically depicted.

Mitsuishi’s comments are as follows.
[Kotono Mitsuishi (role of Hikari Shinomiya)]

(C) Defense Force 3rd Unit (C) Naoya Matsumoto/Shueisha
As a defense force member, she is a strong and cool woman who is enchanting, but at home she is a mother who cares for her family. I tried to portray her as lively and flexible. I can’t help but think that if there were no monsters in the world, she would have lived a happy life with her family. Since she only appears in a few scenes, I cherished the time she spent with Kikoru, Isao, and her colleagues. I believe that Hikari’s feelings have been passed down to her husband and daughter.

Kikoru’s Mother Appears—Voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi
The release of the main PV for Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 sets the tone for a more emotionally charged and action-packed arc. Kafka and Kikoru’s development is highlighted, signaling a shift from individual struggle to coordinated resistance against the Kaiju threat. The introduction of Kikoru’s mother, voiced by the legendary Kotono Mitsuishi, adds depth and legacy to Kikoru’s storyline.
