The original work is a manga adaptation of a light novel by Hiromatsu Ryo, which began on the user-generated novel site “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” (“Let’s Become a Novelist”). The story follows Shigeru Yoshioka, a man falsely accused and turned into a jobless recluse, who is transported to another world where he trades his looks for cheat-level stats and begins a new life as an “absolute god.” However, he has one unusual weakness: just touching a girl causes his HP to drop.
The anime features Junichi Suwabe as the main character Shigeru, with Yoshimi Inagaki as Seika, Kaneto Shiraishi as Seiji, and Maaya Uchida as Reese.
The main staff includes director Toshiyuki Sone, series composition by Kenta Ihara, character design by Miki Matsumoto, art direction by Yoshiki Matsumura (Studio Pablo), cinematography by Nozomi Shitara (T2studio), sound direction by Kohei Yoshida, music by Ryu Kawasaki, and music production by Nippon Columbia. The animation is produced by WHITE FOX.
“Ugly Guy Serious Fighter” is scheduled to air every Sunday at 11:30 p.m. starting July 6 on TOKYO MX and other networks.
